How is the Backlot Tour?

Does anyone know if the Backlot Tour is worthwhile? I have heard mixed reviews on this. I read in the Unofficial Guide it was good and it looks interesting! Tell me all you know...:hyper: :earseek: ::yes::

I have always enjoyed the backlot Tour. I really like Catastrophe Canyon and seeing some of the costumes and props in the wearhouses was neat. The houses that used to be part of this tour were recently torn down so I am not sure how this has affected the overall enjoyment of this ride. I never really cared for the "house" fronts anyway, so I am sure I will still enjoy it.

Have fun.

If you have never done it-- then definetly try to squeeze it in. For me it's not a must do every trip, but every couple of trips.

The Backlot Tour was closed when we were there end of March. Has it reopened?

Speaking of the house fronts, when was the last time herbie the love bug was sitting in the driveway? I was there the day it opened as a kid, and have this part on tape. but when I went in 2002, I don't recall seeing it. I guess they removed it because of the fact that the movie isn't as popular anymore?

Or did I just miss it?

This has reopened, was there last Wednesday. But it's kinda a slim version of what it used to be. They reuse areas now, not so much to see... I was kinda disappointed. But seeing the costumes and Catastrophe Canyon are still neat to see..

The new backlot tour is OK. They don't have near the stuff on the tour that they used to. Catastrophe Canyon is still great but they have spread the props out. Most of them are on the left side of the tram if you want to take pictures. Instead of taking you down the street of houses they make a loop so you can look down the street at the backdrop of New York in the distance.

I would agree that if you've never seen it, it's worth a ride. If you have kids, they'll probably love the Catastrophe Canyon segment of the ride. That being said, I wouldn't wait any longer than 10 minutes for this one. An interesting diversion, I would say.

Still do the boat thing at the begining? And now they take you down the street to see the NY thing instead of the houses, both times I went they did both. So you don't go by the houses anymore? I always liked this, especially Catastopy Canyon! I vote for if you have never done it, DO IT!

Have fun!

I was curious too........how it has changed?
How long is the attraction now? One thing we did not like is that is was so long.....lasted like 35 or 40 minutes.
If there was a way to skip that boat thing at the beginning....then we would probably do it every visit.
But that part is just....boring...

Can you see the progress on the new stunt show??

The houses are gone on the Backlot tour. They still have the live action boat section on the tour. It's fun to see the guests perform.

You can't see much of the Stunt show area. You could probably skip the boat part but still would end up waiting in line for the next tram to the rest of the tour.

DH and I were picked to be in the 'stunt show' one year...we were "swabbing the deck"
