How is Tambu Lounge drinks and apps?

It is first come, first served. There is usually a line to get in, you could be seated at a high table with others, or at a smaller table if a smaller party. If you line up a little before they open (meaning serving food), you may get lucky and be seated right away. If you get there a little after opening, it will probably be about a 45 minute wait, since everyone was just seated and it will take a while for them to be served and to eat/drink. I've never waited less than 30 minutes, the longest was almost an hour. The apps are basically the same as the pot stickers, wings, and noodles from O'hana. Sometimes they are really good, sometimes, not so much. The dessert is almost always great. You do kind of feel rushed, as there is a line of people looking at you wanting your table! But the line is better than how it used to be, it was a crazy free for all. You'd get up from your table and be rushed by people who were waiting and ready to pounce! 🤣

They still have noodles there? I only saw the pot stickers and wings on menu.

I got noodles when I was there in March. You may have to ask the server, I don't remember if they were on the menu or not. We always order the same thing, so we don't even look at the menu. It all comes from the O'hana kitchen.

Rarely crowded and iconic speciality drinks in a tiki style. If you like the appetizers at ‘Ohana you’ll like them here too. We are talking about the mezzanine lounge not the one downstairs that’s incredibly tiny, right?

I need to go when you go! I've never found it not crowded, even in the off season. There has always been a line to get in! It's the lounge right outside of O'hana - another reason it's crowded.

If you go when ‘O Hana is backed up it’s surely crowded as people clamber for additional seats😉. Yet otherwise it seemed a nice calm place to me. We tended to order drinks and then take them back to our room after the first one but now maybe you don’t have to play that game since post pandemic you can order and leave.

The one I almost always found crowded is the one downstairs with the waiting list when it first opens. Didn’t fit my vibe so tended to pass it by for Dolewhip now with rum 😎

Since we are staying at POLY I was thinking about going in the 9-10pm hour. Would that make a difference?
It's just two people.
Definitely want some apps and drinks and I really want to try the noodles without going to O'Hana.

BTW been to Trader Sam's twice and its just okay in there when its only 2 people so we actually just go outside for the food now because I love that flatbread with peanut sauce!

By that time of the evening you should be fine as the families with small children have already eaten and the noise level in the area is lower.

Trader Sam’s! Thanks for naming it since my brain kept fogging up.

Have you been to the Wailulu yet and if so what’s your take on it? Good views of the electric parade? TIA.

I’d go closer to 9pm. The Tambu Lounge is open until 11pm, but they stop serving food at 10pm.

My plans for arrival day so far are go to DS for lunch at EOS (I know controversial lol but I love the original), then Trader Sam's terrace for a flatbread and then Tambu Lounge for drinks and late dinner.
Its unfortunate that one or the other doesn't serve lunch since it would be nicer to do one then go to DS and EOS for dinner and then the other for a snack.

Nope sorry haven't been since the Island Tower opened.

EOS brings you joy, right? That’s what’s important 😎.
I suspect that this trip we’ll be doing more lunch and/or snacking since I don’t do many rides anymore and DGD has announced she’s only buying park tickets for two days out of 6 - amazing the things that happen when you start paying for yourself, lol. I may treat her to more park days but no decision has been made yet.
Going the end of May so I’ll probably write my impression of the new Poly tower after.
Have fun out there.

My sister and I have realized just how bad the DDP was for our trips after we went without it.
We didn't get it in 2019 because we stayed CL at CR and found that we enjoyed the "snacking" better than full meals.
Then in 2021 we didn't have a choice and found out just how much we prefer lighter QS meals and just snacking on a savory treat here and a sweet treat there.
We do like Steakhouse 71 for lunch (and we like that its not a ton of food) but other than that we don't do TS now.
