My sister and I are traveling with our Mom tomorrow to Philadelphia. We go on the NYS thruway to Route 287 to Route 206 in Princeton NJ and then get on I95 until we get to Philadelphia.

All are highways, which I assume will be plowed, except in Princeton. I was wondering what that road is usually like when it snows? It's only like 35 mph anyway, but do they keep up with the plowing?

We live about 20 miles away from Princeton and just my opinion, the roads in Princeton (206, Route 1) are slow-going and congested on normal days and expect it will be very slow tomorrow with the 12-18 inches of snow predicted. Sorry :scared:

I think you might want to reconsider those plans. All of those roads are congested under the best of circumstances. A major snowstorm would make them a disaster.

If the snow falls fast and furiously, no plow in the world can keep the roads clear.

It's a major storm, stay home. With the amount of snow expected, the roads will not be clear and you will just be putting yourself in danger of getting into an accident or stuck on the road.

Stay away and stay home. I live in the southern part of Hillsborough about 7 miles from Princeton and even on good weather days anyone from this area stays away from Rt. 206 :rotfl: so you better believe it's awful on snowy days.

If you are definite on your plans you'd be better off going Rt. 202S (towards Flemington) instead of Rt. 206, then getting on Rt. 31 in Flemington to 95 since Rt. 202 south of Somerville is four lanes and Rt. 31 is as well most of the way to 95.

There is no way you will get to Philly tomorrow. They are expecting 18 inches. It has started to snow and will snow for over 24 more hours.

If you must go then pack your car with water, food and blankets. You may need them.

Yep! It's a major storm. Stay home and off the roads!

Shout out to you Neighbor!! I am from Hillsborough too! Glad to have a fellow Dis'er locally!

To the OP stay away from 206. near Princeton its a one lane narrow highway which they notoriously dont clean fast enough! Try some alternate route.

Okay thanks people. :thumbsup2I will tell my sister, who is doing the driving, about Route 202 and 31. Actually, that is what comes up now on Mapquest. When we went 4 years ago, the only thing that came up was 206.

Since my mom is scheduled for surgery, we will try to make the trip. If it gets too bad, we will turn around.

Its better to start late tomorrow as I am sure your mom would rather have you safe than on uncleaned NJ roads. Its gonna be bad tomorrow!

Unless it is emergency surgery, I would think they would cancel and if not, I hope you reschedule this is from newscast....

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 12 TO 22 INCHES INTO EARLY TONIGHT... WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS STRADDLING THE INTERSTATE 95 CORRIDOR.

NEAR-BLIZZARD OR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE RARE FOR OUR AREA... SO IT IS LIKELY THAT PEOPLE WILL NOT REALIZE THE PERIL THAT EXISTS IN VENTURING OUT IN SUCH STORMS. LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE... AND DRIVING WILL BE HAZARDOUS AT BEST DURING THIS WINTER STORM TODAY AND EARLY TONIGHT. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT TRAVEL BE CURTAILED DUE TO THE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS... AND ONLY DRIVE IF IT IS TRULY AN EMERGENCY SITUATION.

A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS... MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL... HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED... STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE.

I don't feel like hearing about you on the 5 o clock news....

After watching the forecast on the weather channel, numerous relatives from PA calling us to warn us about the weather, etc., we decided it was too dangerous. And then the hospital called to cancel the surgery and postpone it until next Thursday - Whew! So glad to be staying home. May God watch over anyone who must drive in this weather.

They said they are closing the city of Philadelphia at 11am!
