How is Rose and Crown for watching Illuminations?

Best I could get was 6:55pm reservations for the week of April 16th (group of 5 includes 3 kids). How awkward do you think it will be for me to try and stretch it to a 9pm Illuminations showing? I'll employ the obvious strategies like not showing up early, ordering drinks first, then apps, and then entrees to space things out, and so forth.

But do you think 6:55pm is just too early? Thanks.

was told on another threadthat La Hacienda was in fact a poor location to view illuminations from. Apparently there are not very many tables that allow viewing of the fireworks.

If you are right next to the windows in the main dining room you will have a good view. But the odds of that are pretty narrow. From tables further back in that room you can still see, but not as well. About a third of the restaurant has no view of the lagoon at all, and it's been noted that you cannot select a table or ask to wait for a particular table. They just won't guarantee you a certain spot.

Standing room at R&C worked out OK for my parents and I but our server brought us out there kind of early, and it got a bit crowded after we got there. Nice view for us though. IllumiNations is a short show so I wasn't too worried about my parents being able to stand for it.

Instead of trying to drag things out for 2 hours, just tell your server that you would like to see IllumiNations. They're used to people showing up early so it wouldn't be a surprise that someone with a 6:55 seating wants to stay.

I would keep checking to see if something around 7:30 comes up because overall most times we're finished within 90 minutes at R&C and even if you can stretch things out, depending on the age of your kids, will they want to sit and eat that s-l-o-w-l-y.

We love R&C - and have eaten there twice in order to view Illuminations.

They are not going to "throw you out".

In fact, for a group of 5 - you couldn't really finish up much before 8:30 anyway.

I would keep it -- enjoy some drinks.... bring some "entertainment" for the kids (depending on how old they are... and if they can sit in a restaurant for 2.5 hours....) Order some appys.

Don't order you dinner until closer to 8pm.

Just enjoy yourself....
