Are their lots of options? What kind of food do they offer?

When I stayed at the Polynesian in December I went to Captin Cook's a few times and thought it was good. My favorite things was the Adult Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Chicken Caesar Salad and the Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza. So I say look at their menu and see if there is anything that sounds good to you.

It's not a "food court" in the way that POP and POR have food courts. Captain Cook's is more of a place to grab food quickly. I found it very nice. They don't have the options that POP does, but then POP doesn't have the restaurant options that the Poly does. Capt Cook's was always clean, had ample seating, the food was fresh, even late at night, and the staff was very helpful. You do order at self-serve kiosks, which can be confusing.

I found the food to be good. Adult grilled cheese is my personal favorite. Of course everything tastes better with a pineapple dolewhip! :goodvibes

Well, thanks everyone. We definitely will check it out as we will be staying next door at the SOG. It sounds yummy:goodvibes

1) Deluxe resorts do not have Food Courts.
2) They have a sort of "order, grab, go" eatery - but there are some chairs.

Out of all the counter service restaurants at the deluxe resorts we enjoyed Captain Cooks the most.

Breakfast was my personal favorite as they served the famous Tonga Toast and the waffles and scrambled eggs are excellent.

The Grown up Grilled Cheese was great for lunch as well as the burgers. We truly did not have a bad meal there.

And of course don't forget the self serve...Dole Whips!!!!!!!!

Mmmmm......Dole Whip.

We had the BBQ sandwich for lunch. They were very good too.

My $.02.

I agree on the grab and go. It's diffenately not a food court like mods. It's has computer touch screens that you order from and can be really confusing the first few times because of how small it is and how crowded it gets. They out isn't very good and it can be chaotic.

I have to agree on the food quality, I thought it very good.

However, THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!!! It can take a very long time to get your food during the lunch and breakfast times and I am sorry but the checkout people were the RUDEST, MEANEST, SADEST, UNHAPPIEST, GRUMPIEST people I have ever encounter anywhere in WDW. There were generally a rotating chorus of 5 ladies that check us out. The night shift were very nice and pleasant, helpful..they are the ones that explained the process of ordering to us...the day people...THEY WERE THE ONES...ONE YELLED AT MY HUSBAND..YELLED  at him because he handed her 2 cards to pay for breakfast on our second morning (he hadn't paid by himself yet) with DDXLP, when he only need one.

Everyone else at the Poly is so sweet and nice and thoughtful these grumpy gusses are just shocking because they even look like mean lunch ladies!:rotfl:

The Polynesian has the BEST counter service of all the Deluxe Resorts. The BBQ sandwich, flatbreads, cheese sandwich and noodle bowl are huge hits in my house.:)

We ate their in Dec. Took the boat over from MK for a nice break. DH and I both really liked the options. I think he had the BBQ sandwich and I had the grilled cheese. Didn't find it too busy.

We were there last week and we were staying at POLY and we would go back there for lunch most of the days b/c I love Captain Cooks. Their flatbreads are good, the chicken caesar is good as long as you like alot of dressing, their noodle teriyaki is very good, adult grilled cheese is yummy, burgers are good, the club is amazing.....eveything is good there and don't forget the dole whip.....yummy!!!!

Last night I happened to ask my niece where her favorite place to eat at Disney was (they just returned a few weeks ago) and she said, "Captain Cooks"!! They were on the dining plan, ate at California Grill, CRT, Ohanas, Kona, LeCellier...and she LOVED Captain Cooks!

For the record, we ejoyed it too, but not quite as much as DN7 apparently did! :lmao:

The only problem we had with Captain Cook's was that it tended to be a bit crowded.

True, especially at lunch time but I always took it out and we ate by the quiet pool where dd was always swimming. Its a nice relaxing meal....and yummy too....LOL
