We want to take our children here to eat and think they would enjoy it but are wondering how the food is???

I enjoy the Monte Cristo Sandwich and their salads but eveything else is just okay but it is still worth eating there for the atmosphere. Lunch has the sandwich available that is not on the menu at dinner. Lunch is also less expensive.

Very kid friendly. We enjoyed the lunch--out of the crowds and sun. Food was good (I had the Monte Cristo sandwich too--should have shared it with someone as I could hardly eat half). Service was friendly and efficient.
Have a great time! :sunny:

But remember, for the kids to get the full enjoyment of Blue Bayou request a table on the water. It is definitely worth the wait. I still remember the first time my parents took me there and it is still one of my favorite memories. The atmosphere is so fun and the kids will love to see the boats go by on the POC ride

I second that it is very kid friendly. We had lunch there, a party of 4 adults and 4 kids, ages 19 months to 8 years. We all had a good time. And there was a handy restroom right there. May not be important to all, but is sure is to a family with kids!

Every trip to DL we eat lunch at the Blue Bayou. We spent our 4, and 8 year anniversary lunch there. We go to DL about 2 times per year and we always make an ADR for lunch there. My DS7 loves it. The Monte Cristo Sandwich is the BEST!!!! We also request a table by the water, romantic and fun. I think it is definatly worth it. Always cost about $40 - 45 for lunch for me, DH, and DS.

I agree wait for a water table. My family always have lunch there everytime we go to Disneyland. I either get the Monte Cristo Sandwich or the Prime Rib.

Their prime rib is sooo good -- and it is much cheaper at lunch. Also the blue bayou potatos. I don't think we have ever sat by the water, but we love it just the same.

If your kids are old enough -- here is what we do: Buy them chicken at the stage door cafe and send them over to Tom Sawyer's Island to eat their lunch while we eat at the Blue Bayou!

We have also sent broken up the party and eaten in shifts at the BB. (If the kids need supervision) The kids do fine at BB, but it is nice to have a quiet meal without them!

What time is considered Lunch at the BB?

When does it turn over to Dinner?

Thanks!

You might want to double check if they are open. We were at DL yesterday and POTC was closed until sometime in June 2006. I don't know if the BB is open if the POTC is closed.

Good luck.

They are not open. :sad1: The schedule is for them to reopen around the reopening of Pirates (June 25th or 26th). And I plan to eat lunch there on Wednesday, June 28th. However, I called for reservations and was informed that until sometime in July, the seating would be first come, first served. It may be hard to get in, but I plan to try!

BTW, had lunch there last trip, and it was great! If you are looking for a bigger lunch to serve as your big meal of the day, might I suggest the fried calamari appetizer and the crabcakes entree. They are both very good! :)

I would say they will most definitely be taking ressies by then. Just remember to call 6 weeks before the day you want to dine there. That is the earliest you can get a reservation.

I would call 60 days in advance and they are supposed to start taking PS again mid July.

Hello, :sunny:

Im a newb but I can at least give some input on this subject. I made a reservation to the BB for dinner service on July 9 there were only 2 times available between the hours of I believe I said 5 and 8 or 9. I made this reservation last thursday or friday I believe. Only thing i fudged up on is that July 9 is the World Cup Final and for a soccerphile  like me I got lucky that dinner is hours after the final :) coming and going as you please is a HUGE advantage of a season pass!! This is my first year as an AP holder but I have always loved and gone to DLR often.

I didn't see this mentioned, but the Blue Bayou will have a brand new menu when they reopen the end of June. I understand that the pricing will be different too. pirate:

Like the ride, it's VERY dark in the BB. May be disconcerting for some little kids.

Both DSs loved the BB; something was definitely missing from our trip in April (i.e. BB and POTC). Can't wait to have both of them back again! :cool1:

I really like Blue Bayou - it's my name after all. :)

I held off taking my girls there until our most recent trip this past December. They were 2 1/2 and 5. They had a great time and we were at the very back near the bathrooms - about as far away from the water as you can get.

We went at lunch. I booked a PS for as early as you can get in hopes of getting a water front table. Then we TOTALLY spaced lunch and were hanging out in ToonTown. We were in ToonTown and I noticed it was 5 minutes past our PS time. We got there as fast as we could... but it was 20 or 25 minutes past our PS time. They were very nice about it and still seated us right away. That is why we got such a poor view... but at that point I felt lucky just to get in. It was a great chance for the kids to eat with table cloths without feeling like everyone was watching.

My kids were on their best behavior there. I was very proud. Our server was really good with them too.

I have a very fond memory of eating there as a child back in 1979. We had a table right in the front. I loved it. I am an only child that was taken out to dinner to nice places at a very young age. I don't remember how to do it now... but probably by 3rd grade I could set a place setting with desert forks etc. As a kid I remember feeling like Blue Bayou was a nice, fancy place... but that it was made for a kid like me.
