I have not been to the cookery since it reopened. I have tried looking for pics of the food or descriptions/reviews of the different sauces, but have not had any luck. Can anyone help me with my quest?

We tried it in May and found it be somewhere between blah and yuck. Nothing special. Ds(12) ordered the mandarin orange chicken and although he finished his meal, it was not a place he wanted to go back to. Dd(9) had the kids meal (teriyaki chicken) and would not eat it after the first bite. She ended up getting food at the mexican place with her dad. I ended up eating her kids meal and thought it was so-so. Nothing to get excited about. I don't think we'd eat there again though.

I was wondering this also. I love all kinds of food and chinese is close to the top. I guess I will order out.

We really liked it and have eaten there 3 times since last October. The portions are large and the price wasn't bad about 9$ and it fed 3
of us. We had spicy Korean and teriyaki. Chicken only. :goodvibes the spicy korean is spicy spicy :scared1: but delicious :thumbsup2

We thought it was very very yuck! It has some really weird spices in it!

I thought it was pretty good in Dec. when I had it. Nothing spectacular but big portions and I thought it was pretty good.

I thought the French Market Restaurant was better. In DCA I want to try Cocina Cocomonga or Pacific Wharf Cafe.

DBF and I shared the spicy Korean beef and it was very meh and portion was really small...definitely not worth the $10 that it cost.

thanks for all of the input. I'm on the fence at the moment. We really like chinese and teriyaki, but with mixed reviews.....:confused3

those pics of yours do look small compared
to what our portions were. Ours were well at the flaps of the take out boxes. One so much so we couldn't of closed it. Way to much rice
for one person. :wizard:

We ate there for lunch one day, dh really liked his meal I think it was curry something or other. The kids and I shared the teriyaki, I thought it was spicy but I like my food bland. The meals were huge but I dont think I would eat there again.

The Korean sauce isn't spicy to a Korean! :) DH thought it tasted good, but really wanted some spicy bean paste to enhance it. :)

We actually liked the two sauces we had with tofu (went back once or twice after our first time there...we liked sending one adult to Cucamonga or the Wharf Cafe, while the other went to Lucky, meeting at a table and sharing). And the portions were HUGE. We'd go there again.

I had the orange chicken recently. It was okay and enough for two but the sauce was pretty bland. The ingredients were fresh and properly cooked (nothing over or under done). Maybe the other sauces are better.

I really like it!

Is it amazing Chinese food? No. Is it good counter-service Chinese food to enjoy on the go? Absolutely.

I get it without the sauce and add soy sauce. I LOVE the little box it comes in. So easy to eat and walk. Also love having another option to the variety.

It gets my vote.

We liked it a lot. We ate there right after it opened and our portions filled the box so much we spilled when we tried to eat it at first. LOL It was very tasty and fresh.

Guess they shorted me on my order...either way, the food was really salty and I'd much rather spend $10 on the bread bowls at Pacific Wharf Cafe ;)

We are very non fussy eaters. We mainly go to counter service places, and with two young kids we go where they will eat. I think we'll get an order from there and then get something from the bakery or the mexican place too. That way if we don't like the chinese, we at least didn't all order the same thing. thanks for all of your opinions. I don't know how people plan their trips without coming here and spending endless hours reading.:rolleyes1

I tried it on our last trip, I wasn't that impressed and probably won't eat there again. But it was worth a shot!

See it didn't seem salty to me at all...which is weird because I don't add salt to much, I have high blood pressure so I tend to avoid salty foods. :)

I didn't think about it until after you replied, but yeah...to me, the veggie chili and veggie gumbo are FAR saltier, to my taste buds, than the Lucky sauces were....

But it's all so personal to your own tastes, not to mention exactly what you order and the day it's made!
