How is June?

I was planning on visiting Disney in May. But I have been called on to babysit my sister's 3 kids so that they can go to California for some adult time. So I was wondering about June. Early June. Is it really, really hot? When do the parks become crazy with all the children out of school? Would it be worth the $$$ to stay at a deluxe hotel and have shorter transportation times? I never thought I would visit Disney World in the summer, but better the summer that not at all! Please let me know what to expect!

We've only been in June: Early 3 times, late 1 (even for the 4th of July). As far as hot, yes. Low 90s, rain every afternoon for about 30 minutes. As far as crowds, I honestly thought it wasn't as crowded around late June to the 4th this past summer as it was in the first part of the month. If you can swing deluxe, go for it. I can't. I stay moderate. I don't think the transportation times saved would benefit you so much you just have to spend the money. That's my opinion, though.

Been more times than I can remember in June, and then we took several trips in December. Wow, what a difference. June is very hot and humid. We have been early June and mid June. Not much difference in weather or crowds. Long lines-80 minutes or more at peak times. Touring Plans lists most of June as and 8 (scale of 1 to 10). Definetly use Fast Pass. Would highly recommend Tour Guide Mike--he will tell you which park is best for each day of your trip. We found him to very accurate in these predictions. The monorail resorts might be best if you are looking to save time on travel. I have heard issues with the busses at all resorts, regardless of level. Take breaks in the afternoon and stay late in the parks if you can. I would say if I had to go in June or not at all, I would go in June and use TGM. Of course December would be my first choice. :goodvibes

Remember that the first weekend in June is Gay Days. That Saturday tends to be one of the the most crowded of the year at MK. You can check the specific days at www.gaydays.com

We will be new June Visitors in the future(maybe starting in 2007). My DS started elementary school. We might go June 2007 or one Thanksgiving trip 2007 if I feel comfortable about having a vacation during school time. So heat and crowds here we come. I think it does help being a DISer, not a first timer visiting WDW in the summer. We know our way around the parks and transportation system. :sunny: :thumbsup2

The heat and humidity are really rough, especially for people who aren't used to it. The crowds can be just as daunting. With good planning it is doable though. Take every advantage of FP you can and make sure you plan for pleny of inside shows and rides during the hotter parts of the day. Also, leaving and returning to your resort for an early/mid afternoon swim and rest can be very helpful. It's very important to remember to pace yourself and drink plenty of fluids so you don't get worn out to quickly.

Oh, rkmassa, we love early December, too, but this year we have to go in early June. Of course, a summer trip is better than no trip, but DD6 is already asking if there will be lines -- she's used to riding multiple times without having to get off because of no crowds -- so I'm trying to get her prepared to wait. Truthfully, I'm trying to get me prepared, too, since we've been so very spoiled up till now. I'll be using UG and TGM, and Fastpass of course, so hopefully it won't be too bad, but I know I'll miss December. :sad2:

The weather was good. For us it's in the 100's here in TX, so the 90's in florida was no biggy. The humidity at first was crazy. As soon as you walk in the park it's like if your drenched with a bucket of water. But once you get used to it it's ok. We froze waters and took the misty mate and a spray fan. It was all ok. The thing is they have allot of inside shows which help with the heat. So your in and out of the sun. So just take turns inside and out. You'll be ok. We went in late june, from the 22 - 30th. Like I said the weather was great. I wasn't bothered with allot of kids at the park. No whining or crying. It was ok. Maybe since it was my first time I didn't even notice any of that. Also we picked june since the kids are in school in may and in july hurricane season starts, I didn't want anything to do with bad weather. So hopefully again in 2008 we'll be back. Again i'm picking june...
So have a blast...
