How is Hollywood & Vine? Okay in place of LeCellier?

I can not get reservations for LeCellier for dinner any night of my April/May trip. I can't believe it's booked. The rep. at Disney Dining recommended H&V so we could get seating at the night show. How is this restaurant? SHould we eat there just for the preferred seating, or go with Coral Reef and get our own seats?

Ate there once for dinner and will never go back, terrible food and terrible service.

As I recall, most DIS'ers were not impressed. Your best bet is to go to the top of the page and see if the Search works.

Our last experience at H&V was several years ago and will not go back again.

It used to be good but went downhill over the last few years.

Just making sure that you know that Coral Reef is at a differnt park than H&V. H&V would be for seats to the show at MGM. Coral Reef is at Epcot. We have eaten all aboved mentioned places. If you can not get Le Cellier, I woud go with the CR. Well, I might choose CR over Le Cellier anyway...We love them both.

HV was fine the night we were there, but just fine. Nothing special. If it is a crowded night and you want to get seats for the show, it is a reasonable choice. We find Mama Melrose to be quite good as another choice.

There is no comparison between the two. You could not pay me to eat at H&V. Once was more than enough.

In Epcot I'd suggest Coral Reef in place of LeCellier. Otherwise you could walk over to Spoodles, it's just a short walk out of the International Gateway.

In DHS, I'd choose Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Dining Package vs Hollywood and Vine. The steak gorgonzola is amazing!

You could not pay me to eat at H&V.

It would all depend on how much you paid me. H&V is not very good. Coral Reef on the other hand is very good and has great atmosphere. They are in different parks however as has already been pointed out.

We went in September and surprisinly our dinner was pretty good at H&V (I say surprisingly because the reviews here are awful.) Everything was hot and tasty. It's similiar to the other buffets at WDW.

It also depends on you. As you can see, everyone here hates it. We might have just caught it on a good night.

We've had different experiences than the others here; we really like H&V--it's the best in-park buffet we've had. We've been there on three successive trips over the last 18 months. Also recently recommended it on another board and the person took the suggestion and liked it on her visit just last month.

True that it's not at all the same experience as table service at Le Cellier. Then again, the folks at the DIS podcast were really complaining recently about how far downhill Le Cellier has gone.

Ugh. You cannot even compare the two! Le Cellier is a must do every trip for us. H&V did once, that was enough, won't go back.

Le Cellier and H&V aren't even in the same park! If you are looking for steak then maybe the Yachtsman Steakhouse at Yacht Club? Or if you are looking for a place inside Epcot we like Coral Reef. I have heard that Coral Reef serves a decent steak, though we always order seafood there.

We had dinner at H&V last August and it was fine - we were in a huge group and that seemed to throw them off a bit, but it was fine. But it is a buffet, not a menu restaurant, and it is NOT in Epcot!

OP - Depending on your goal (Epcot, steak, etc) I still think H&V was an odd substitution.

I have looked at so many restaurants, I'm getting confused. All reservations are booked for LeCellier, so I am going to go to Coral Reef, and all the good times at Sc-Fi were booked, so he recommended H&V. Is LeCellier that much better than Coral Reef? Ohana's is booked also, but hopefully something will open up.

I think you will be happy at Coral Reef. LeCellier is very small inside and very hard to get ADR's for. I now calendar exactly 180 days out to try to reserve LeCellier. Anyway, Coral Reef you will like just fine.

As far as HS/MGM, if you can't get SciFi, I'd go with 50's Prime Time next, Mama Melrose next, Brown Derby, then H&V probably last on my list. I hate to say it, but we really didn't enjoy H&V at all last trip. And we really do enjoy buffets, but we just didn't care for this one. Could've just been that particular night, though. I'd be willing to try it again someday if the situation arises.

I agree with this list. I like the food better at Mama Melrose (compared to Prime Time), but for the overall experience, 50's Prime Time is more like Sci-Fi than Mama Melrose.
