Anyone been to AK recently? How does it look? Has construction really gotten along or is it just cleared? When is the projected opening? Anyone have current site photos? I'm just really excited about this one and hope it will be ready by my OCT 2005 trip. Hope "Soaring" will be done too!

We were there on Sunday. I didn't look closely, but it appeared to be all cranes and scaffolding, steel columns sticking up, etc..

if its projected for 2006, i doubt it will be open for yor 2005 trip.

We were there last week and you could actually see tracks in the construction. So it is coming along nicely.

Great view from the bridge by the entrance to Tarzan Rocks, for those of you going soon.

I was there last Sunday as well. It looked to be moving along. You could see the some of the interior; track, etc. It looks like it will have a lot of tight turns.

I am sure someone will post it, but there is a link to current pictures of the consturction. The last pictures I saw, you could see the track. I can't remember which thread had the link and now I can't find it. Sorry. But I am sure someone will post it.

Hello DIS friends, :wave2:

Can anyone be more descriptive on what kind of a roller coaster this EE is going to be? An outdoor RC or indoor RC with special effects? Any cool theme?

Thanks.

I think it was pretty smart of Disney to put a thrill ride like this in AK. They need a couple of more ideas like this to encourage people to come and stay. Hopefully it will be as good as RRRC, TT and the others.

I understand the ride to be a slow innocent journey up Mt. Everest....that is until you run into the Abomonible(SP) Snowman. Then it turns into a fast rollercoaster ride inside.

This ride is going to be based on the story of the Abomidable Snowman. I don't know the storyline, but the ride itself is supposed to be a combination indoor/outdoor rollercoaster. The view of the ride is a mountain with snow caps. Most of the ride is indoors and you can see points of the ride where the train goes outdoors.

Take a look at this link. It is an artist rendoring of the outside of the ride.

I wonder if it is going to be intense like Big Thunder or INTENSE like RnR....I hope it is a little more like Big Thunder...

What do you think? Anyone know?

Here are more Everest photos. The mountain is going to be huge. The construction equipment shown appears to be full size construction cranes.

If the monster in the attraction has a really big tummy, would he be called the "Abdominal Snowman"?

From what I've read on many sites, Everest won't be set to open til spring of 2006. :( Sorry for you, but yeah for me! :bounce: DH and I will be there in May, and I'm sure it will be done by then. ::yes::

sounds a little bit like the matterhorn. can anyone confirm/deny?:D

I get the impression this attraction is the Matterhorn on steroids, with new technology and an updated storyline. Does anyone have any specifics?

It needs a catchy theme tune :rockband: like IASW and Splash Mountain. :boat:

I know they say 2006 but there are always soft openings. I am not sure about Oct. but I wouldn't count out Dec./Jan.
