Hi -- I will be spending my birthday down in the Disney area... Hubby and my 2 1/2 year old want to take me out to dinner. Someone recommended Emeril's.. How is it?

We are staying at Beach Club Villas so I am also looking at Yachtman Steakhouse and Flying Fish or Spoodles at the Boardwalk.

Thanks.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Just a tad pricey. But what isn't. Just my 2 cents

I have not eaten thre, but have heard from reviewers on the Universal board that the food is good and prices high.

Herc.

I haven't ate at Emerils's but I have heard its good, pricey and not very kid friendly. I would also ask on the Universal board someone would know for sure.

I can tell you we ate at the FFC and it was a great meal At WDW prices (translation:high) and there were kids everywhere!

I am planning CG or Narcoose's this year for a special dinner with family and hoping to either see fireworks or the H2O parade.

We usually just do desert and coffee at Emeril's b/c it is very expensive!! But very good.

I'm prob. the only one who will tell you I hated it! I only tell you this to save you $$. I was so excited to eat there and so mad when I left. The food was to "fancy" for us. The sauces did'nt go well with the dishes we had and the sweet potatoe patty under our meat was just nasty! It was dry and way to much cinnamon in it not to mention fighting thru that sauce poured over our dishes. We had soup and entrees with coke for 86$! There selling Emerils name at this place you have to decide how much it's worth to you to eat there cause it's emerils. We learn and exp lesson. This was a lunch meal! They even charge you for refills! The service was wonderful they needed to be to take your mind off the food I guess. This was our big meal dissappointment. If your going to Citywalk or IOA/US try Mythos now that's money well spend and half the cost! I was mad leaving hungry for that kindda money. If you want a great steak meal to plan into your trip go to Ruth's Chris, it's very upscale but dress is casual. Best steak around. You can check out there prep style at www.ruthschris.com we are eating there on Friday night and I know for 85$ I'll be busting at the seams and have a wonderful first meal in Orlando!

Emeril's was both the best and most expensive restaurant meal DW and I ever had. It cost us just a tad over $100 for dinner for two with drinks and dessert. It's a great spot for a special occasion, although I probably would not go there with a 2 1/2 year old. It's definitely more of a "leave the kids at home" type place. Then again, you know your child better than I do.

I have eaten there twice. It is at Universal's Citywalk and not at Downtown Disney. My SO really likes this place that is why we went back again after the first time. The atmosphere is nice enough and you have more waiters/servers/cleaneruppers than at any other restaurant I have ever been to. Each table must have like 6 separate people you deal with. I am a very picky eater and I had a hard time finding things I like at Emeril's. The food is very...interesting. There are so many flavors and different types of things on your plate...well I just did not enjoy myself. My SO on the other hand liked it very much. It is someplace to try, but if you are a picky eater or do not like combinding 20+ flavors in one meal than you might want to steer clear. Do you have your own transportation? If not a cab or transfer service might be expensive. I would suggest staying in the WDW area. My favorite restaurant on WDW property is Le Cellier at Epcot. I have not eaten everywhere at WDW yet so my opinion might change after trying other restaurants, but Le Cellier is a good choice in my opinion.

Thanks everybody... I am leaning more towards NOT going to Emeril with my daughter... I was thinking about what apagano said. Mythos got good reviews from people. I guess I better figure out where we are going to be on that day. LeCellier was another suggestion and I have eaten there and like it. If we decide to stay near the hotel (BCV) then maybe Flying Fish or Spoodles... but - thanks for your input.

To add a little perspective, Emeril's is for folks who like multiple flavors in their dishes. It is a creative cuisine restaurant, not a staples meat and potato place. It is expensive? I just spent $106 for dinner for two at the Yachtsman's Steakhouse. Emeril's is comparable.

I've seen any number of families in Emeril's and the children all seem to be having a fine time.

They do request no tank tops, but then, so does the YSH.

If you like your food prepared with a little creativity, this is a good place to try.

If you go after 6 PM parking is free.

You should have a reservation for this restaurant to avoid disappointment. Some evenings it's so full that even if you are willing to wait you'll not get a table.

Have a wonderful dinner regardless of where you choose to dine!

 I thought Emeril's was great!!!! But a little pricey!!! I t is worth it if this is the only chance you will get to eat there.;)
