How is Disney weather in August?

Hot and humid, layered upon hot and humid, with a little hot and humid smothered on top. Definately plan the daily pool break!

Well you are from NY & I am from CT so think of those days when it is nearly 100 & super humid..um..that black out a few years ago (luckily we had power!).

I look at it this way. When I am home & it is hot, if I am not in a pool or an a/c car/house, I don't go out.

But when I am in Disney, the weather is pretty much the same as it is here in CT when I don't want to go out for the oppressive heat (did I spell that correctly?).

So what we do (and we have been doing this since I was a kid) is go to the park for opening or just before & I do EMH's. Spend the am in the park & leave at around lunch time-either eat lunch at the park & leave or leave & have lunch at your resort.

Then go for a swim, cool off in your a/c room, take a shower & become refreshed.

Then go back to the park around 4 or 5 ish for dinner/rides/shows.

I am always amazed when we are leaving the park at around noon or before the oodles of day visitors coming in to enjoy that high noon sun.

We decided to book our trip anyways. We plan on hitting the parks as soon as they open. Having lunch and heading back to our hotel in the afternoon. We'll return to the parks in the evening when it's a little cooler.

Just by looking at your time ticker, you will be in Disney 1 day before me.

Florida weather in late August goes like this:

WET....HOT....HUMID...WET....HOT...HUMID.....

Quite possibly the most miserable conditions I have ever experienced.

But the funny thing about summer weather in Florida is that it's a lot like child birth and labor: You somehow forget just how bad it was and you do it again! :rotfl:

Maybe it's the free food that is helping me to forget?? We'll be back August 22!

P.S. The extra late magic hours in the parks are the BEST!!!! The sun is gone and the lines are short....what more could you want?

You're a kid from NY.

It's that "hot, hazy, humid" weather that spells summer around here.

Drink a lot, swim a lot (and re-apply that sunblock after you swim!!) and you'll have a blast! Remind mom to hit the dollar store for ponchos before you go.

We'll be down there in August too!!

I won't repeat how hot August is. lol But I just want to say how doable it is. We did our first August trip last year, and it was not as bad as people made it out to be. After reading post after post about how miserably hot it was going to be, I pretty much expected to walk off the plane into an inferno. We made smart, heat-ready plans and we had an awesome trip! We would have gone again in August this year, but we're going in June instead because it worked out better for us timing wise.

Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

Oh, last August (15-22 to be exact) it hardly rained at all. Now, I'm guessing that wasn't the norm, so I'd expect showers daily (set the expectation low and if it's not as bad then it's a pleasant surprise). But, I'm just saying we had a very dry week for our trip. So it's possible. :) I'm actually expecting plenty of rain for our June trip, it seems to rain more in June than August. eek!

Oh man, it is really hot. Really really hot. Wear light clothing!

Surface of the sun hot.

Head exploding from the heat - :furious:

Light colors, sunscreen, light fabrics, more sunscreen, plenty of fluids, more sunscreen, breaks and more sunscreen. If you are wearing open shoes don't forget to put sunscreen on your feet, sunburned feet are no fun.

Definately, Definately, Definately have bottled water delivered to your hotel and plan on taking swim breaks every afternoon. Don't bother packing jeans/sweatshirts...you won't need them!

We were there last year at the end of August, and it was hot and humid, but very doable and bearable! Then again, I am in Houston...where it is also quite hot and humid!
