How is counter service at POR?

That is our hotel and I'm just wondering how their counter service is for breakfast and/or lunch?

We thought it was pretty good for lunch. Back in November, we stayed at the AKL but hated their CS restaurant, Mara...food was awful and not much of a selection. On our third day, coming back from the parks, we decided to stop at POR to try their CS and we liked it. We liked that they had different stations and thought they had a pretty good variety to choose from (DH and DD loved the pasta creation station).

We thought it was awesome! Out of all the CS we ate over the week we were there the Foodcourt at POR surpassed them.

There is a varitey of choices. We loved the make your own pasta station. Like most Disney restaurants though the kids meals are lacking.


They have the best ever carrot cake at POR!

We liked it. There is plenty of seating, which I can't say about some other resorts' cs locations.

The pasta station will give you enough for two (and maybe three, depending on how much you eat), and you have a lot of tasty combinations to choose from. The sandwich and burger choices are also good, and fresh.

We mostly used snack credits for breakfast there (muffins, etc.) but the kids did get Mickey waffles one day and enjoyed them.

They have a salad counter, where they'll make a salad to your specifications, with ingredients you choose. I like entree salads, and I LOVED this one!

We usually stay at POR but on our upcoming trip we are staying CL at AKL. One of the things I know I will miss about POR is the ol' Riverside Mill. The food is good and there is usually more than enough seating (even durring the week between Christmas and New Year's it wasn't too hard to find a table). One thing I would suggest, if you have breakfast there try to get one of the tables outside. It is a quite beautiful and very peaceful way to start a Disney day.

One of the best dishes I've had at Disney came from the pasta station at POR. Maybe it was so good because it was freshly prepared. The pasta I designed had shrimp, artichokes and pesto sauce.

Its def worth a walk over in the morning, it only takes about 10 mins and yes it does have a much bigger selection the POFQ. POR have a great omlette station where you can pick and mix what you want.

We really like the food court there. The pasta station is great and we thought the portions were big enough for two adults to share. Breakfast was also good and we've never had trouble finding a seat.

If not the best, then certainly one of the best, CS restaurants in WDW. The food selection is awesome, the food quality is great, and the overall wooden design and ambience is lovely. Plus there's usually plenty of seating.

As far as something for everyone, the food court at POR has it. My family thinks it's the best of all the Disney resorts as far as quick service options.

omlettes in the am were good and yes share the pasta the portions were huge!!!

My only complaint was that it took so long to pay... the lines to pay can be long and cm are friendly which slows down paying sometimes... and food gets cold..

Counter service is so good at POR that on our upcoming trip to Caribb. beach, we'll drive over to POR one night for dinner in the food court. The pasta station and bakery are nice, plus our daughter will enjoy her favorite spot near the water wheel.

I feel the same way. We have been to several resorts and this one to me is by far my favorite. Plus, the cheese cake is fantastic. Be sure to get the strawberry toppings on it. I wish I had a piece of it right now.
