Hi everyone
I was wondering how lunch at Hollywood Brown Derby is? I am thinking of changing it to 50's Prime Time but cannot decide what to do? Any tips or reviews would be great.
Thanks:goodvibes

Well, I LOVE Brown Derby for lunch, but it does kind of depend on your crew and their tastes. It's definitely got more of grown up feel to it, and the food's a bit fancier than 50's PT. I love it because the Cobb Salad is FAB and is so refreshing after (1) a hot morning in the parks and (2) heavy food overload while at WDW in general. Their desserts are super too ;)

That being said, I like to do it when traveling with friends, but would never take my family there. My picky boys would hate it. (Pizza Planet is more their speed )

Having lunch at Brown Derby is our tradition, even when DS & DD were small (now 16 & 13.) There's always a kids menu!
As mentioned, the cobb salad is awesome - have it with a flight of wine. Enjoy!

I always eat at Brown Derby for lunch on my Hollywood Studios days. It seems quieter than other HS restaurants, and if you get there right when it opens it's not that busy either.:thumbsup2

I ate here on my last trip this past July. Lunch was absolutely splendid. DSis and I split the Grouper (fish) and it was absolutely delicious! We also had the Cremini Mushroom (think huge piece of Ravioli) for an Appetizer and it was GONE in 30 seconds. Yummo! For dessert, I tried my tastebuds on the Grapefruit Cake. I was pleasantly surprised as to what I got. After reading all over the boards how sour and yucky it is, I was half expecting to spit it out. Not this time! Although, once I got about half way through, the sweet soon turned to bittersweet and I had had enough of the taste. Something only good in small doses I think. DSis tried the Flourless Chocolate Cake. BE WARNED: This cake is small but it packs a punch. Very, very very rich. If you're a chocolate lover, this is for you. Try the Brown Derby for lunch. You won't be disappointed :thumbsup2

We have not eaten here but saw it on the theme park food show and I thought we might give it a try. So we plan to have lunch here on our Aniv. How is the Tuna salad? Is it better than the cob?

DH and I experienced BD last Sept. for lunch and really enjoyed it. DH had the steak and I had the grouper, both were great. I had the grapefruit cake and it was just ok....but we plan to go back this Oct.
Considering the fact that HS has very little dining options, we appreciate the chance to escape the searing heat, enjoy the AC and have a nice glass of wine with our relaxing and cool lunch.

While I did enjoy it, I do feel it's a little outrageous for it to be a 2 ts credit restaurant. It is good but not even close to comparable to any of the other 2 TS credit restaurants.

We used to do the Derby for lunch every trip but in the last year except for the Cobb salad prices have gone through the roof (the tuna cobb that was $17 two years ago went to $20 and is now $28) so I'd say pass unless you're going just for the regular Cobb salad which is still reasonable. Such a shame since this is the only restaurant we liked at DHS.

I wouldn't use 2 table service credits for lunch, but we have eaten there several times for lunch. I ALWAYS get the cobb salad :goodvibes

My boys (6 & 8) have been there twice, and they like it, too! As others have said, it's refreshing after a hot morning in the park :thumbsup2

I agree with you on that, especially for lunch. If you're on the DDP you should pic CA Grill, Artist Point, etc. for a 2TS meal rather than the HBD.

I went for lunch on my last trip and paid OOP even though I was on the "old" DDP (apps included). I just wanted the cobb salad and a martini or two. Would have been a very bad use of 2TS credits.

NOTE: I'm glad to see all the props for the cobb salad. I love it, but I've seen people post about hating it because it wasn't what they expected. The waitress even "warned" me when I ordered. I had it before and knew (and love it). The lettuce is very finely chopped. I've ordered cobb salad many places outside the world and love it too, but have never found it like that anywhere else. The others' cobb salads pale in comparison IMO.

Lunch at HBD is one of my "must dos," but as I said, I pay OOP and only order what I want.

My most favorite lunch when we visit WDW is the BD, have got to always get the Cobb salad and then famous grapefruit cake for dessert, it's what I consider the perfect yummy lunch and has become a tradition for me! But I would never use up 2TS for it, I would pay OOP.
