How is ASMovies

My family and I are going to the wdw(first time ever) and staying at AKL savannah view with the dinning plana and 6 day park hopper for the week of 8/10-8/16. With airfares bring so HIGH I was thinking about leaving on the 8th(a friday) and staying at a Value for the first 2 nights then off to AKL. For those 2 nights I wouldnt be getting any tickets or the dinning plan. It would be used for swimming and shopping in downtown disney. I would save about $200 if I go on the 8th instead of the 10th and it would only cost me about $213 to stay for those 2 nights. I will being going with DH23, DD4, DS1 and DSIL 17. Is this a good choice? I am on a budget right now(just able to afford the week at AKL) so upgrading prob. isnt a option. I just dont want to get there and be disapointed. ANY help?

Since your going in August the values are going to be crowded but since your only looking at it for 2 days I wouldnt worry about it that much.. Like you said its just for two days and your at disney so time will just fly by. Out of all the value's movies and sports are my fav and I think its a great choice. Have a wonderful time & Enjoy!

We stayed at Movies after SSR last Fall. DH HATED IT, but he is a spoiled little man.


I liked it, but it felt really cramped after being in a 2BR villa. But since you were planning on starting at the value and moving to the deluxe, that should not be an issue for you.

Movies is really cute. Make sure to take a walk around and check out all the icons, especially in the Toy Story section!

My kids absolutely loved the Fantasia pool, as well. It is a VERY Disney-fied place to start your trip.

it would cost you much more! Each successive day is less expensive than the previous one!

If you used a travel agent, she can take care of this for you. If not, you can wait and the front desk at your hotel can do it.

BTW...we love Movies! If, at check-in, they were to offer me a free upgrade to another hotel, I'd pass!!!

What if I add 2 more days onto my tickets from my package? Would I be able to use them early? Or do I have to wait until I check into AKL to start using them?

Not getting tickets would be fine if you don't want to go to the parks those days.

Use that time to shop, hang out at DTD and the hotel pool, maybe head over to the BC for an ice cream cone at Beaches and Cream and to check out the BW.

Alot of DVCers stay at their villas and don't go to the parks at all.

Have a great time!!! I certainly would do the same thing. We ended up adding a day in November 07 for the same reason. It was cheaper for an additional night at WL than it was for airfare on Friday night. We booked flights home on Saturday night, booked an extra night in Disney, and then we had a DING for the flight. Staying the extra night ended up saving us $150 over flying home on Friday even WITH the room cost!!!

I think your tickets would be on your room key for your package, so you would have to wait til AKL to use them.

We are going for our first time May 31st - June 10 for a magical gathering . I ended up buying our plane tickets that leave on the 30th because they were half the price of leaving on the 31st. It was cheaper paying for the extra night in the hotel, since I was buying 4 plane tickets. We are staying at ASMo, also. I don't plan on buying an extra park ticket for the 30th.

I say any extra days you can get on your vacation, GO FOR IT!!!!!

If you call Disney and make your reservations at ASMo, you can ask that you get your tickets with that reservation instead of the AKL reservation. Then you can add the two days and it will only be a few dollars each. You would just get 8 day park hoppers instead of 6 days.

You will love ASMo, or atleast your children will!! All the decorations are sooo Disney-like!!!

Well I just called disney and got 2 RUDE CMs. They told me there is no way I could get my tickets for that ressie. I almost hung up on them.. I am seriously so tired of getting rude CMs. It makes me not even want to go to disney.

The issue is the dining plan. You could easily get the park tickets attached to the first ressie for the full amt of days you will be there, but then could only get dining plan for the two nights at the ASMo. If you want the dining plan for the time you are at AKL you have to wait for your ticket package to start then.

You have 3 options 1. Keep everything as is and use those first 2 days for swimming, DTD and perhaps one of the water parks or mini golf.
2. Dump the dining plan and get the park tickets attached to the first ressie for total # of needed days. 3. Get tickets for 1st ressie but only have dining plan for 2 days.

Good luck with what ever you decide!

Wait one more option is to do AKL first and then ASMo- oh so many decisions
