Im heading out to the parks tomorrow, and I want to know if I can handle Mummy. I love BTMR over at MK, and Im wondering if any of you can think if I can handle it. TIA

Well it's a dark ride and a coaster. No inversions, does go backwards and has outstanding theming. Honestly, I wouldn't miss it - it is amazing! I think you can handle it and love it and want to do it again! :thumbsup2

It's part dark ride part coaster, nothing over the top intense, but as was said by the PP this is one ride you just can't miss riding, truly one of the top attractions at any park in Orlando.

My question is does anything jump out at you I love roller coasters but the only reason why I will not do Mummy is the fear of something jumping out at me :(

Your going pretty fast nothing is jumping out at you. Lots to see in front and on the sides but nothing jumping directly at you.

There is the one treasure room scene near the beginning of the ride where some warrior mummies do kinda jump at you, they are like 10 feet away from you and it's nothing that should terrify you, just a cool part of the ride. The 180 degree turnaround is right after the backwards part where the train is on a turntable,no drops or high speeds here.Right after the turnaround is the 45 degree incline launch at 45 mph, which is the beginning of the short coaster part of the ride, and best part in my opinion.

That launch is awesome and one of my favorite parts of the ride - do you have to ride in front on this ride? I have to or I wait till I can.

To me, ROTM is more like Space Mountain--at least the coaster part. The launch is pretty fast, but none of the drops are big. The backwards drop is the smallest of all. Before the backwards part, you do bump a wall and bugs come out all over the walls around you(not real bugs of course). That is the only thing I would equate to something jumping out at you.

SPOILER ALERT

The video in the link below on you tube shows the ride with lights on so you can judge the nature of both the 'slow parts' and the 'coaster part' - be warned though that you will see the ride clearly, so please don't watch if you think that will spoil the surprise for you.

However i found it useful to show my children, so they can judge whether its something they would like to do - as sometimes they get put off by imagining all sorts.

After seeing the video - by 10 and 12 year old have decided they do want to ride it.

Thanks for this! I'm not a roller coaster person at all but after seeing this with the lights on I think I can handle this. It doesn't look too intense and the drops aren't huge. Thanks again.

Keep in mind that those videos are hollywood and the rides are quite different. Similar, but fairly different. Much less backwards travel on the Orlando version and I'd say the Orlando one is better. I've ridden both.

The Mummy ride is more about theming than wild ride. I don't ride the big coasters but I adore the Mummy.
