How in the world do you keep your iPhone charged?

I have an iPhone plus so don't have to worry about my battery life. But the easiest thing is turning on battery saver mode. Anytime you can keep the screen brightness down, no animations running (mainly Android thing), preferably not lose the wifi signal, prevent background app refreshing (manually check your emails, don't let it push load), don't have apps constantly using your location services unless absolutely need to, don't have features like wifi, Bluetooth, or airdrop on unless you need to

We mostly do midday breaks so my battery is usually fine. There are days we will be in the parks longer. On those days i will bring a portable charger. I got this off amazon. They can charge two phones at a time and one of these fully charged can charge an iPhone 7 about 5-6 Times.

If I am understanding what I am reading, the fuel rod had a charging cord you can plug in to recharge it, correct? So it could be used in other locations besides Disney. I am thinking of getting one this week at the Houston Airport to use at a conference I am headed to if that is correct.

We really only use our phones for MDE as needed, taking pics and texting if we split up. I don't usually check facebook or instagram in the parks, but I know some do. As others have said, turn off the wifi unless we need it, keep bluetooth turned off, turn the brightness down, don't leave apps open, turn off background refresh for everything possible, take a screenshot of FP selections so we don't have to open MDE to look at them. I also turn off any notifications that I don't need to see--email, messenger and any other various apps that I don't need while in the parks, although I leave weather alerts on as we travel in the summer.

We have two portable chargers if we need them, one is a Jackery that my older son uses and really likes, the other is some random brand that DH bought three or four years ago.

Agreed. Battery saver even on an older iPhone 6S was fine all day for me for the past few years. I know Wi-Fi usually saves battery but I keep it on AT&T as the lte signal is stronger (small cells and DAS in the parks) and it doesn’t flip flop and search for signal. Luckily I have an X now so I should be good—battery is similar to the plus models.

I have an android but I bought a portable charger after reading all about how my battery would run out in the parks--never even needed it. I think it's in my husband's car

Heading to WDW in June and it will be our first trip since 2013. Many trips prior to that but life got busy. It seems obvious that my phone will be necessary to navigate our days. What is the best way to keep your phone charged? Any recommendations for portable chargers?

I LOVE my FuelRod and how you can swap it out in the parks. I have a lot of chargers but this works well for me. I even use it at home.

I bought a portable Jackery before our last trip and it works great. Doesn't weigh down my purse much, either.
This! In my family we each carry a small Jackery charger daily. On vacations we carry the larger size Jackery charger. It charges 2 things at once, lasts a long time and we recharge it overnight when needed. Easy to find on Amazon.

For 1) I just make a FP+ screenshot and set the screenshot as my lock screen and wallpaper so I don’t have to unlock the phone and/or use data to look them up.

I like putting the FP+ in our family's shared iPhone calendar. It saves power over MDE, like your option. It makes sure that everyone can see the schedule. And I can also set alerts to remind me to head over to the ride in case I get distracted and forget.

...and I forgot the best part, since the FP+ time is an iCalendar appointment, I can check it on my Apple Watch without even messing with the iPhone. ;)

There is another FuelRod thread here:
https://www.disboards.com/threads/fuel-rods-whats-the-capacity-mah.3675566/

...the two things I think were the most educational for me:
1. The FR doesn't have enough capacity to fully recharge an iPhone 6S. Folks who measured says that you'll get about 66% of boost from where you start.
2. There is only one FR machine in AK.

I'm a big fan of bring your own power. All of the power saving tips are great, but I'm on vacation and I like playing with my phone when I'm bored in line. I like finding out about wait times and other info to help me adjust my touring plan. I'm sure I could go the day without a charger, but why would I?

We travel to the parks with a couple of these for a family of five, where everyone has their iPhone:

And one other benefit, any battery you buy is probably going to be able to source more current than the FR. Translation is that you need less time to recharge your device when you take the time to plug it in.

I have 2 Jackery 20100 mac battery pack. Its large but I keep it in my backpack or camera bag. It has 2 USB ports and I usually have my DSLR, a goPro, and my iPhone 8 Plus. I know thats a lot but I love taking photos at Disney parks. One Jackery pack will last me probably 3-4 days before needing to be fully recharged.

The cool thing about Apple Watch is that if you join a wifi network with your *phone*, you should be able to turn your phone off or put it in airplane mode and your *watch* will still use that wifi.

So you get your phone and watch on disney's wifi like normal, then put your phone on airplane mode. Your watch should still get notifications like normal.

Power saver mode is amazing. Great zero-cost option.

Interesting trick! Thanks!

I don’t worry about that though with my LTE watch and unlimited data though.

I just want to thank the posters in this thread, I hadn't even thought about keeping my phone charged in the park (we plan on doing RD to about dinner in the parks most days, so no mid-day break to charge the devices). I've just ordered an Anker on Amazon and it will be here Monday. My iPhone has pretty good battery life in my day-to-day life but with all the pictures/video I plan to take, plus MDE usage, I'm not sure how it will hold up. Then Anker model I ordered will recharge it 1x with room to spare, so that should fit my needs fine (as long as I charge my phone in the hotel overnight and start each day at the park at 100%). And after the trip DH can use it as his aging Samsung won't keep much of a charge anymore, so we'll get long term use out of this.

I put mine on low battery mode even when fully charged: the night before our park day I screen shot the FP+ for the day and make that my lock screen saver so all I have to do is touch the lock screen for the info. Take all the pictures I want, mobile ordering and I am good to go.

Another Anker fan. I have a 10400mah that charges an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy 4 times, kept our cell phones charged at WDW with no problems. Great to have it here in the Northeast, we recently lost power for 36 hours, was a god send for our cell phones.
