Is on site something extremely important for a new Universal visitor with small kids this time of year?

Wondering how bad crowd levels are in late February and if on site is something that is worth the consideration. Really not wanting to spend the $$ and would love for the Cabana to be open as that is a comfortable price range but it is not until April.

it is very convenient to stay onsite when you have littles.

easy to get to the park and back to the hotel for down time.

no commuting from offsite to the darkside having to plan in extra prep time to get the littles up, fed and ready to leave the offsite hotel for traveling to the parks.

Crowds are moderate, that can still translate into waits on the longer end and you are also getting close to early srping break time
