How important is an ADR for a character breakfast

We have an ADR for breakfast at the Contemporary resort. We saw it showcased as part of a Disney special on the Food Network, and it looked like a fun experience. We don't have kids, but we both like buffets, and the opportunity for character pics without having to wait in line at Toon Town sounds like a deal. The one issue I have with this is that I like to be at the park before it opens. Our ADR is at 7:00 a.m. on a Tuesday. We will not have a car. The Disney shuttles don't operate until 7:30, so we will need to take a taxi to breakfat which I have been told will cost around $15.00. I know that with only 2 weeks before our trip, I probally will not be able to reschedule this ADR. I am considering cancelling it and trying to just show up at a late morning seating (11:00 ish) and hoping to get a seat after we have had a chance to hit a few rides. Do these plans seem okay? What would you do? Is it hard to get into a character breakfast without an ADR? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

You did not say whether you are staying at a WDW resort or not.
If you are at a WDW resort there is an early bus that will get you to the Contempory for your breakfast. The early bus usually leaves the resorts at 6:20am so you do not need to worry yourself over cab fare.

If you are not staying at a WDW resort, a cab is your only way to get to the breakfast on time.

As for getting to the park when it opens, you will have no difficulty doing that: just take the monorail from the floor above Chef Mickey's.

As for going to a character breakfast without an ADR: don't try it, don't even think about trying to do such a thing.

 :cool1: ;)

I would call and see if there was an opening for a little later if you don't want to take a taxi. If you keep your 7am slot then you should be able to get there around park opening without a problem. As for canceling your ressie and trying for a walk in, all I can say is good luck. Character meals are ususally pretty full with walkins not always being accepted. It's worth a try but if it was me I would either keep the ressie or try to reschedule it.

What about a late morning seating at Cape May at the Beah Club? You could go to Epcot and then walk or take the boat to the Beach Club. ADRs there seem to be easier to get than other character meals. Also, I have gone there late in the morning without an ADR several times.

Thank you all for your advice. I am staying at Disney's POFQ, so I will look into that early shuttle. Based on your comments, I will definately not try to get into the character breakfast without an ADR. Thanks.
