How important is a nonstop flight to you when making your airline reservations?

For us I doesn't matter as long as the price is right. Okay let me take that back, we will only accept on layover. As long as the price is right. Now for our trip in August we were fortunate enough to get a great deal from Delta out of BWI for a non-stop flight to MCO. But on our return trip we do have a 1 hour layover in ATL, not bad for the price of the airfare $173.

For me personally, I would rather take the later non-stop flight. I really hate to fly and for me, the worst part is the descent. To have to do that more than once would kill me! I'll even pay a little more $$ to fly non-stop vs. stops/connecting.

I suffer from violent motion sickness so I totally agree and I have to fly often on business. If it were not for Scopace, I wouldn't even be able to do nonstops. When I do have to fly with connections or stops, I know I will arrive in less than ideal physical condition, if you know what I mean. :faint: :scared1:

I always take non-stop. I live in Chicago, so non-stop is available to almost every city in the US, so that makes it easy!

With connecting flights, there's an increase in chance that one (or both) flights will be delayed, you can miss your connection, and they can lose your bags. Plus the hassle and extra time in switching planes at your connecting point. Nah, I say go non-stop!

Of course most people prefer non-stop, but if the cost difference is significant, we will connect. We have flown several times through ATL on Delta and the connection time is less than 1.5 hours. The last time we flew this trip, the cost difference totaled over $350; I figured it was worth $350 to add a couple of hours to our trip.

Since we would have to drive 3 hours for a non-stop flight(smile), we almost always have connections. It is much nicer to be able to get up without rushing and leave from the small, local airport. Never have to be there more than 45 minutes before the plane leaves.

While I agree that NON-STOPS are awesome, I'm not willing to pay for an inflated non-stop (are you reading this NWA), when I can get to my destinations MUCH cheaper having one stop (typically in ATL) by flying Delta (and at about the same time). Granted, the Delta flight I'm looking at (out of either FNT, DTW or TOL) leaves about 6a.m. while the NON-STOP flies out of DTW around 8 or 9 a.m.
To each, his own I guess.

Regards,
Dave

Non-stop if at all possible. We fly out of Detroit, so the best non-stops are on Northwest, but they are not always cheap. We flew on Southwest in February with a stop in St. Louis (no change). Since we didn't have to change planes, it wasn't too bad. If the price difference is fairly close, I am willing to pay more for the non-stop. However, if there is a big difference, we bite the bullet and make the stop.

Non-stop is very important to us, especially with young kids. I always look for the non-stop. My parents live in a pretty small city but I found one airline that runs one flight 6 days a week to and from this city. I have to fly out of Newark, which is a $50 cab ride, but its worth it, if I can get this flight during a fare sale.

However, there is a price-is-right issue. I visit my sister quite a bit in a medium sized city where a major airline has a hub-- for years they were the only ones who flew direct and they charged a LOT for it-- 85-100 per ticket more than connecting. A little too much, so we always flew with a connection, which usually meant flying in the wrong direction to change planes. Recently that airline has wised up and lowered its non-stop fares.

Its rarely an issue for our Orlando trips, luckily NYC-MCO is one of the most competitive routes there is so you can always find great fares, non-stop.
