How hot is September?

I'm in the very early stages of planning a trip with a group of friends for next year. We are thinking about going in September (not during Labor Day weekend) since that tends to be a less crowded time and we're all adults with no kids so we can realistically go any time of year. My only concern with September is I keep seeing people talk about how hot it is. Pretty much every other time I've gone to Disney has been between late June and mid-July so I am used to the 90 to over 100 degree days with 100% humidity and thunderstorms at least every afternoon. How much worse is September heat-wise than June/July and if it really is that bad, is there another time of year with as low crowds with better weather that you would recommend?

September is hotter than the surface of the sun. Extremely humid and guaranteed to rain + thunder in the afternoon. I would still go during September vs. June or July for the lower crowds. I went during September and if you do a mid day break during the thunderstorms, it's great time crowd wise. Early/mid May is great crowd wise too but also hot and humid. Rain + thunder is not as frequent from my experience.

I went last February (early February) and loved it. The weather was cooler and the crowds were not bad at all. I much prefer being a little cold to being on the face of the sun.

I’ve gone September, the week just after Labor Day, with extended family for the last two years - and am doing it again this year. It’s very hot and unbelievably humid, and there are guaranteed thunderstorms every afternoon that sometimes last a few hours and do nothing to temper the heat and oppressiveness, even though people will claim otherwise. I’m talking the kind of storms that completely flood the entrance to Epcot, but it’s what works out best time-wise for everyone to get together, so we make do. I and my college-aged DS love the heat, so it doesn’t bother us, but the younger kids get cranky, and my older bro can get short. As long as you pace yourself and take breaks and hydrate, the lower crowds make it worth it, imo.

I've gone in late September/early October and it was hot, but not hotter than the surface of the sun like early september can be.

I think the later in September you go, the better the chances of more reasonable heat and humidity for your trip - but typically most of September is pretty hot, can be pretty stormy, and can even involve more severe weather every now and then. But given the choice between late Sept and any time in July or August, I'd be there late September!

I lived there for 8 years. It is VERY hot and humid. Also, it is the one month of the year where it might rain all day. Wear water shoes, as it is difficult to keep your feet dry because of puddles. The third week in September is the height of hot and humid because that is when the storms come across the Atlantic bringing storms and rain. But the crowds ARE very low.

Also be aware that September is the height of hurricane season. That can be a good or bad thing. One of our best vacations to Disney was when Dorian was supposed to be a big deal but turned into nothing for central Florida. The parks closed early 1 day and there was a little wind and rain but there were no crowds because so many people cancelled. Most everything was a walk on.

We went one time in September. It was when the very first disney dining plan came out. It was done to increase park attendance in September at that time. Our TA told us it wouldn't be crowded because no one would want to take their kids out of school the very first week of school! Well! that wasn't true. It seems a lot of parents took that week off to take advantage of the free dining plan, and it was extremely crowded. It was also hotter than blazes. Oh, our TA also said we would be ok with the heat because we lived in Tennessee, which is hot and humid. Well, we weren't prepared for That type of heat. It was miserable because of the heat and the large crowds due to the DDP. We haven't been back in September since.
