I can't even lift the giant plastic crayon bank that holds my WDW savings. I have about $500 in paper money, can't wait to take the change to the sorter at the bank. Our next trip is October 26, and I use the crayon to pay for meals, souvenirs and incidentals.

How's your saving going?

We use a giant plastic baby bottle that came with baby gifts in it! Last trip we couldn't believe how much money we had after only saving for 6 months, $900!!!
This time it isn't adding up as fast because I have to pay for my meals at work now and they cost $2 every day so I just keep grabbing a "toonie" (yes we are canadian and that is a 2 dollar coin) out and my husband isn't very happy with me! I would guess that there is probably 300 in there right now but we still have 2 months to save!! Maybe I will have to quit eating lunch!!! Its worth it for Mickey ears!!!! :earsgirl:

LOL! My DH is the one who keeps "stealing" from my WDW fund. He thinks he can use it like an ATM!

My 11 year old DD just finnished wrapping all of our pennies from our penny jar. $110.00
It took her 2 and a half days.
She loves stuff like that though. She was so proud when she was done.
You can tell it's summer and she's board while we are at work. :flower:
My silver jug just doesnt seem like its growing though.
We have a 5 gallon water jug. You know the blue ones?
It's only about 1/4 full.
Oh well, we have 3 more months to add to it.

Wow! I am so impressed!

We've been saving change for 2-3 months and I only have about $30 in there... Guess we just don't use cash often enough (dont' carry it - use my debit card instead - too bad they don't have checking accounts with rewards/points! LOL)

We now have three (Magic Kingdom Popcorn buckets) filled with changed and a few $1 bills). After DH gets back from out of town, we are going to have it counted and place in DS's bank account. We figure it's about $225! :cool1:

I "cheat"...I toss in singles too. DH wonders why he never has any singles..haha, I take them out of his wallet a couple of times a week to add to the crayon.

I also toss in miscellaneous $$--bonus checks, expense reimbursements, online survey payments, etc.

Jeeze...we only have a mason jar-but it's almost full :flower: (last trip I think we saved over $110. in change). We're not going until 12/06, so once the mason jar is filled, I'm planning on pulling out the LaNouba popcorn container!! :sunny:

I used some heavy-duty packing tape to secure the top and made a small slit in it so money can go in, but doesn't come out with great effort!

We just started again - cashed in for our July trip. Wow - was I shocked when we found out we had over $850 in it. Now we're saving for next July's trip.

I havent really counted the change in mine yet, but I am guessing there is probably around 50.00 in coins. I have been throwing whatever is left in my wallet at the end of the day, bills and all. I have managed to save up about 170 dollars in bills since the beginning of July. Now if I can just manage to keep DHs hands out of there. The local Dunkin Donuts has been getting some of my mickey money on a weekly basis for the past month. For some reason DH needs to have a coffee from DDs every morning on the way to work, the coffee in our house isnt good enough!! Some nerve huh ;) .

mannasn- My Bank One debit card earns "points" on purchase I make very similar to a rewards credit card. I rarely have cash and always use my card for everything....do you have any Bank One's nearby???

:earsboy: Oh, and speaking as a bank employee, please don't make your coin jars soooooooooooooo heavy that a teller can't carry it...and small mouthed jars take forever to empty into the machine. We love plastic, wide mouth containers (with minimal lint, paper clips, screws, and assorted odds and ends)!!!

Thanks for the tip Renessa. There's not a BankOne here in my hometown, but I think there may actually be one in the town "next door" where I go to school. I'll have to look into that! :)

I have a five gallon water jug. I've been saving for almost 2 years and it's just about 1/4 full. I'm the only one filling it, so it takes a while.

I've decided that when that sucker is full, I'll cash it in (will probably take several trips to the coin counter :teeth: ) and use it for a trip back to Australia. Hopefully I'll have it full in another couple of years. :goodvibes

We just cashed in our change jar for our trip down on Friday  It had $530.17 in it. We also returned an additional $47 in returnable bottles. That money is for gas and stuff on the way down.

I wish we had a "change jar" smilie!

My biggest "change only" total was when DH and I were saving for our honeymoon. Over nine months, we saved $800 in coins. He had jars and frisbees filled with coins all over his house and I had my big crayon. When we combined our stashes, cha ching! :teeth:

We are using a plastic pretzel container from Sam's Club and we decorated it with Beach Club pictures. It's about half full and we actually weighed it this morning: 31.8 pounds worth of change! :earseek: We have until December to keep saving and hope to have it close to being full by then. :goodvibes

I never let mine get too full. I cash it out at the bank when it gets to be around $30 (usually about twice a month) and get that money into my ING mouse money account so it can start earning interest! :teeth:
