I am interested in How the DisBoards have helped the people using
them. I hope others would like to hear our stories.

How did they help?
What did you learn that you didn't Know before?
What specific thing stands out in your mind that helped you?

I would have no idea where to eat if it weren't for the DIS. When I called to make Jan. ADRs the CM was impressed with my choices - she said I had picked the best. I would not have known any of them without the DIS.

i agree about the food. i would have never known about crystal palace with pooh and friends, and pooh is my favorite and when i called to make reservations, the CM told me that i picked one of the best character meals!

i would have never know about photopass, and what a great thing that turned out to be!

I would have never known about picking a pearl at DTD/Epcot...
Or just random little tidbits of information that all of you lovely people share on here....

for instance, telling us that the new dvds are out... where to sit for parades (i got right in the curb in the front of the castle for spectromagic and go terrific pictures), etc etc etc.

THANKS DIS'ers

If it werent for the boards I would have never ran across
DreamsUnlimited 5 years ago since then they have been the perfect
TA especially debi

I think the biggest thing was reading everybody's posts about how different the Disney experience is staying onsite. I became quickly convinced and have never turned back.
:thumbsup2

How can I possibly list everything the Dis board has taught me?

1. Where to stay... and where not to stay!
2. Where to eat... and where not to eat!
3. Best time of year to go.
4. Where to meet characters.
5. Where to shop for certain items.
6. All about special tours, firework cruises, safari celebration, Candlelight Processional, MVMCP, Segway...
7. What to take (clothes, poncho, jackets...)
8. Special items to get (things that are only sold at special events like MVMCP)
9. How to ride in the front of the monorail.
10. How to answer people that say "You're going to WDW AGAIN!!?"
11. Tips like, ship a box of goodies to yourself before you go down, use a shoe bag holder on the back of the bathroom door to store soaps and shampoos in...
12. Creative ways to say thank you to CM's.

I could go on and on and on. Didn't even list all the money saving ideas that you find here.

Just in case I haven't said this before, thank you Dis board. Throughout the years you have helped me plan vacations, helped me survive the time in-between vacations, and given great advice. :wizard:

Where to get the best views of fireworks.

Go to the second Fantasmic showing of the night.

Why and how to use Photopass most efficiently.

Don't miss Four for a Dollar.

What a hidden gem Epcot Character Connection is.

Don't fall for Beverly.

Never, but never, discuss refillable mugs, pool-hopping, ECV's or heelys in polite company. : :rolleyes1 :stir: popcorn::

Wow, there is so much to learn hear, I don't think I can list it all. I think the greatest thing I learn (then and still now) here is how to plan a great trip. Last time during our trip my DW said "You have done a great job planning this trip!" For our upcoming trip the entire family is excited and wanting to know when we are going to what parks, where we are eating, etc. The DIS is such a great wealth of information...I think you just keep on learning here. :thumbsup2

One of the best tips I got off the disboards was to make address labels for folks you were going to send postcards to. I love sending postcards, and this saved on time while at WDW, and I do this ahead of time and throw the labels in my little address book (which I don't really need to bring with the pre-done labels). I've also learned that you need to make decisions for yourself, and not believe everything you read. For example, just because everyone else hates a particular restaurant doesn't necessarily mean you will! But when everyone says "try Beverly" ;) ;) ;) well, you might just want to skip it!!

I agree. I received rave reviews for our last vacation from my DH, thanks to these boards. All the information here saved us time and money, and there were lots of fun surprises for the whole family.
I'm back here again to get tips for our upcoming trip to Universal Orlando. I don't think I'd go to any of the places on the DIS without coming here for the 411.
