How has 'Ohana been lately?

I went to 'Ohana in 2002 and 2004 and it was awesome. Loved the food, loved the service and atmosphere. We went in 2007 and it wasn't the same. The food was so-so and the service was horrible. If the meal hadn't been free (it was during free dining) I would have been rather upset.

So, has the dining plan ruined what was once my favorite place to eat at WDW? Or has it gotten better?

Both times i have eaten there 2006 and 2007 the food was great. it is actually our fav place to eat.

it is a must do every trip for us! we love it. In Dec. it was great! we were celebrating my friends 21st birthday ;) ok...40th :rotfl: and she and I were part of the parade...our kiddos had the time of their lives!!

I am glad to hear real life experience because everything i hear and read elsewhere says that Ohana's is awful! We actually cancelled an ADR for our upcoming trip as we were swayed by the naysayers. Should we try and get that back? What is the food like? I have never been there before (obviously) so I would love to hear more details.

Is everyone talking about the character breakfast or dinner there? We have ADR's for breakfast.:)

As far as the breakfast goes, its never changed(food wise). Same food, good enough, characters for the kids, etc.
As far as dinner...well...we'll be skipping it this year. We loved Ohana the first couple times, but not only is it "been there, done that" for us, we found the food to be mediocre when we were there in October 07. The bread pudding had been my favorite dessert in WDW, but last year it was dry and flavorless...at least compared to the first year we had it. We fest the same about the scalloped potatoes. The first year they were cheesy and decadent. They got more tasteless with every visit. Just not what we had remembered. I know we'll make it back there, but for now we've had enough.

This is why I keep going back and forth with this place. I geuss I will just have to stick with what I decide and hopefully it will work out. :lmao:

It was an amazing meal with wonderful food and service in May 2007. Was defiantly up there as one of the best we had, even beating out Le Cellier (which I think is highly over rated)

I read that they're exchanging the potatoes w/noodles...I'll be able to tell ya how they are in a few weeks if they've already made the change :woohoo: The food isn't incredible, it is very good though. 1/2 of it for us is the entertainment, the view of wishes and ewp and the atmosphere. Poly is my favorite resort! I also really enjoy Kona Cafe there too though. Their tonga toast is awesome:thumbsup2

I believe our favorite meal overall of our last trip was Coral Reef though... we try to go for around 12 nights per trip.

We ate at Ohana's for dinner on Jan. 27th and it was great. It was before the menu changes though. We had the yummy potatoes then. Even though they have changed the menu, our next trip we will book this as one of our dinners. It was that good. Great atmosphere and great food. Lots of it! How could you go wrong?

we ate at ohana for about 4 years in a row. this past august was our last time there for a while. the food was not up to par, and the service was awful. our waiter kept wanting to to clear all the dishes, and we had to keep telling him that we were not done, but waiting for meat. the first time we ever had to wait for meat. we left not full, for the first time ever. we will not be back again.

This was the experience I had in September. I had a feeling it was due to the dining plan/free dining. I was hoping that since the dining plan changed, that service and food quality had gotten a little better.

We were there for breakfast the first week of March and had a great time. Our server was wonderful and the food was very good and replenished whenever we wanted.

We may try it for dinner on our next trip.

I just booked Ohana for breakfast at the end of April. We had Chef Mickey's booked, but my best friend called and wanted to join us for breakfast that day. Needless to say, 7 for breakfast @ Chef Mickey's was NOT happening 27 days out! They couldn't even add the three, so that we could eat at the same time(would've put the 4 kids together and us adults together), but they had a table for 7 available at Ohana's. I took it!

DH is a pretty picky breakfast eater, so wasn't thrilled to do a non-buffet, but I think he'll be ok. As long as they have something other than eggs (like waffles or pancakes)

My family eats at Ohana every single year and we have never been unhappy. Every time we enjoy the food and the service. If anything - we thought the food came too fast...but we love it. The views are great and the food variety is always great. Oh and don't forget the lovely drinks! They are pretty and yummy. Always get pics of them.

Karen: If you click on the link for my trip report in my signature and go to page 13, post 184, you'll be able to read about our breakfast at Ohana and see our pictures. No need to read the whole thing but that will take you right to the part you're interested in. :thumbsup2

They do have Mickey waffles and they were delicious.

I am so disappointed that the potatoes were removed from the menu! That was one of my favorite parts of the meal. I would always make sure I would eat very little on the day of our O'Hana's dinner ADR so I could carb-load on those cheesy potatoes. I can't say I am a fan of noodles. :sad1:
