We'll be there the night of Jan 4th, checking out on Jan 5th to head over to AKL ourselves.

I can try to report back either the night of the 4th (it'll be after a 20 hour drive, so I'm not sure that will happen) or the night of the 5th after we check in to our villa at AKL.

:)

Thanks so much if you could!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We didn't stay there this year since they have changed so many things and added fees and such, it just became too expensive. However, we spent a week there 2 years in a row and loved it. I think you have to remember it is a Holiday Inn and not a 5 star hotel not even 4 but it really is a great place for the kids. I could never pull my kids out of the pool. Disney was second to the pool. We had a good time, never had a problem with some of the things people post on here, such as mold, dirty rooms, etc. Like everything, there is good and bad and sometimes it is what you make it. I have never had a problem there, always gotten my requested room, if something was wrong, they were attentive and fixed it (our fridge had a problem one time and leaked) and they even offered to move our room. We said no because we liked where we were. I found people friendly and outgoing, even the lifeguards and the entertainers. I hope you have a great trip!

We were visiting FL over the Thanksgiving week and the next week. Got a very last minute rate of $99 for a 1 bedroom suite. It was supposed to be $50 more since we were staying over a weekend but the online rate stayed $99! I already had a ressie for a 2 bedroom for about $200 but changed it with that better rate. We had stayed there last year and the kids loved it!

When I checked in, they upgraded us (maybe because I was a Priority club member??) to the 2 bedroom king suite w/ Spongebob! Room was great with lots of towels. Seemed clean enough. We were very pleased. I also loaded up with food from the Super Walmart.

Overall, a very pleasant experience.

We stayed there on December 16th. Quite a nice hotel actually. The Nick brand hotel was brought out from Holiday Inn by Marriot. Look out they'll try and get you to go look at their new resort. What a pain in the butt that was, but the hotel was cleaner than the Disney resort we stayed at. The Character breakfast was a much better deal than the Disney breakfast. It's only 12.95 for kids and there is alot more things for kids to pick from.

The Disney breakfast was horrible. Disney should have warned us how much chocolate stuff they put out. My son was only able to eat eggs there.

My hubby and I both decided that if we return to Disney next year we are staying at the Nick Hotel.

Thanks so much! Is the any buildings or rooms numbers we should request?
Thanks!!:goodvibes

What did you mean by them trying to get you to look at their new resort?
Is there a building or room that you think we should try and request?
Thanks!!:goodvibes

They now have a Marriott time share person set up in the lobby and they will approach and offer some deal (free meals, free nights, free theme park tickets, etc) if you agree to visit the resort and sit through a time share presentation.

The few people I've talked to say it's not a hard sell approach, and they'll ask, nicely, and walk away when you tell them you're not interested.

Which resort is it -- we are staying at Nick in July but also doing the timeshare thing at Horizons. Wonder if they'll let me double-dip:)

I honestly don't remember...I think it was the "newest" one in Orlando. I wasn't the one approached, so am going by my memory of some recent 2nd hand information. I'll ask when I talk to them again, and post here, if someone doesn't beat me to the punch. Or I'll find out when we're there in about a week. :)

[/IMG]We stayed at Nick Suites for 2 nights in Nov before heading over to Beach Club for 4 nights. We went because my DS8 was dying to go there- he LOVED it! He was actually REALLY grumpy when we checked out and went to the Beach Club!!!! The rooms were clean, the service was good, it was fine- and it was VERY quick to WDW. We really enjoyed going to the Nick Live show at night- I even got picked to go on stage for one of the competitions, so that was special. The kids loved the pool, and getting slimed especially, although my husband got slimed most of all because he was standing up on a platform looking down to take pics. All that said, my DS10 was glad to leave, I think he felt a little old for it. I would stay there again, but my husband would probably not- I just asked my DS8 if he remembers anything good or bad about the Nick hotel, and he says the only bad thing he can remember about it is leaving early. Man, was he grumpy!! When did Marriot buy it?

The Marriot is taking advantage of people staying in a hotel and try and lure you into buying one of their condos. They call it a nice resort, but it's a glorified hotel.

We stayed in the 10 building on the 4th floor. I was amazed how clean the room was. My son begged us to stay their for the entire trip, but all ready being prepayed for WDW, we couldn't. You will be severely disappointed with WDW after staying here. I'm an admitted perfectionist and I couldn't find a single complaint about the hotel.

They gave the kids candy treats, and try and get the kids involved in the shows they have. The characters were great. They stopped at every table and took pics. While we were there they even had SpongeBob out near the big water slide they have.

I couldn't come up with a complaint with this hotel if I tried. It was the perfect hotel, and best of all, the privacy of the rooms.

Try to stay on the Lagoon side, it has the big water tower you see in all the ads. We always stayed in bldg 13 or 14 on one of the top 2 floors facing the Marriott across the stree and overlooking DTD. That way we could see the fireworks from Disney without even being there. You could also pay more for a pool view room but I didn't think it was worth the extra $20 a night to see something we spent a great deal of time at. We liked seeing the fireworks better at the end of the day.

I just happened upon this thread and read it to my DS16 and DD13. They both GROANED.

we stayed at the Nick hotel last summer in July. What a nightmare!

NOTHING was clean. I don't even know where to start. We had driven 14 hours and that is the ONLY reason we stayed, If we hadn't been so tired and it hadn't been so late we would have walked out.

We stayed in the Spongebob Suite. Facing the Pool Area. The entire room smelled like stale milk. The kids room with the bunk beds - more like crib size. DD 13 couldn't straighten her legs out in the bed. DS 16 went out to the car and got our travel blankets so he and his sisters wouldn't have to touch the bedding. We pulled the "comforters" off the beds and they slept on top of the blankets from the car. Oh gosh I'm reliving how horrible it was just typing this. No one took their shoes off - the carpet was disgusting. Old, worn and I'm sure unclean. Beds were hard as a rock. No one slept that night.

At first the plastic bracelets didn't bother us. But frankly, I don'tk now how much of a security thing it is. Anybody can book a room and get a bracelet.
No one every checked our bracelets. DD9 wanted hers OFF 10 minutes later and I cut hers off. She wasn't leaving my sight anyway.

The food court - disgustingly unsanity, crowded, overpriced. We could not WAIT to leave the next morning.

If you have time CHANGE TO ANOTHER HOTEL!

We will NEVER EVER Stay there again and I've told everyone I know to avoid it like the plague. HORRIBLE HOTEL!

We had a choice of a Lagoon pool view or outside. Frankly, I chose the pool view but we're early going-to-bed people. It was a bit noisy until after the movie about 10.

The bunk beds appeared to me to be regular twin bed sizes not toddler size. We left toddler size beds at the Country Inn & suites (which was in their kid suite). But that's a whole 'nuther story.

We stayed December 18-24. We loved it. Like other posters have said, it was hard to drag DS4 and DS5 away from the hotel. They would have rather stayed at the pool than go to the parks. We have nothing to complain about. We thought it was clean, kid friendly and fun. We will stay there again.
