Hi all,

We are flying out on the 28th Dec for NY's in Vegas and then going on a 17 night road trip taking us up through Yosemite, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Monterey, LA and then finally to Disneyland. For the first part of the trip, LV, Yosemite and SF, we would like a SUV. For the PCH and the rest of the trip, we would like a convertible. Our car hire is with Alamo - how hard would it be to go into a office and change to a convertible in San Francisco as long as we book it? Would it take up a lot of our time etc? Would we have to do two separate bookings?

Thanks for any advice you can offer :)

They are two different rental car classes, so I would guess that it would need to be two separate bookings. The time needed would depend on how much stuff you had to move from one vehicle to the other and how busy the rental car counter is.

I would ask as soon as you rent the suv. It may require two different bookings.

If I understand correctly you want to rent a SUV in Vegas and drop it off in SF where you will pick up a convertible and drop that off in Anaheim. Is that correct? No reason why you can't book that at one time.

Thanks all for your tips - I think I will make it as two separate bookings then.

Thanks again :)
