Being a new member, I am just now reading near-horror stories of people having trouble getting ressies in early December. This has always been my family's favorite time to go, even before owning DVC. Is it really that hard? Do I have to be on the phone at 8am exactly 11 months out for my home resort to get the villa and dates that I want? Please don't tell me that I have to play a waiting game and call every day to get al lmy days in.:(

The only times you want to call day by day is when reserving a Grand Villa at OKW or BWV, or if you are trying to get a standard view room at BWV.

Any other reservation is easy to get by calling at the end of your vacation.

The eleven month window is very important and I believe it will only become more important. If you use it, reservations are easy.

We stayed at VWL December 9-21, 2001 in a 2BR. We made those reservations in April 2001.

We have reservations for VWL December 1-13, 2002 in a 2BR. I called and made this entire reservation at the 11-month window of our check-out date. Got it easily. So, at least for now, no need for day-to-day reservations to get a 2BR at VWL in early December.

This is one of our favorite times to go!

If you want a studio in early December and you want to stay at VWL - this year (according to MS) it was necessary to go this. This doesn't mean that next year it will be - generally the only time that is necessary is Thankgiving for me at least. I believe that it was only necessary at VWL (this place has the best decorations).

Early December is a very popular time for DVC members - the least amount of points, the MVMCP, the annual meeting, the Candlelight Procession, plus the decorations - it is my favorite time to go also. Been going since 1992 and have my reservations for this year. I almost forget the Dis Convention this year is also in that time period. So there is a lot to do and the parks are not that crowded - more people every year - but it still beats the holidays and summer hands down.

Even if you can't get a DVC resort when you want it - there are always cancallations - so get on the wait list.

We did a bit of a last minute trip to WDW this last December. I called in mid-October for a studio December 8-11. Only OKW had a studio available. If I remember correctly, BWV had a 1 bedroom and VWL had neither. I didn't ask about 2 bedrooms.

We like to go the first week of December, too. Since we own at BWV and I want a standard view, I have been (and will continue) calling day by day at the 11 month window. I'm very sure that I would not have gotten what I needed without doing that.

This year, the entire BWV resort booked very quickly for the first two weeks of December. IIRC, the VWL also booked quickly for that time period. Since BCV is new, I have no way of knowing what the demand will be there. However, if that time of year is important to you, I would strongly recommend that you call at your 11 month window and at least for the first reservation you make for that time, day by day. You'd be so disappointed if you were shut out of your home during your favorite time to visit.

While it may not be much fun, calling daily (it's really 5 calls for a week's stay) sure beats the stress of the wait list, or having to change vacation dates. Day by day calling is a WHOLE lot easier and way less stressful than chasing room discounts, Remember how many calls you made for your last vacation and how many hours you spent reading the resort board?? Remember talking to CMs at CRO who didn't know as much as you do about the available discounts? The days of wondering if you got the best deal on lodging are OVER!:D :D :DWELCOME HOME!
