how hard to get dates

how hard is it to get the dates you want if it is past the 7 month mark. i am think of renting points for january but not sure when i should book and how hard is it to get into a specific resort. new to this

January shouldn't be hard to get reservations for. Holiday weeks and the first 2 weeks in December are usually the toughest to get.

Well, I used to do pretty good, if I do say so myself. My now my wife frowns on that kind of thing

We've always gotten dates in January that were booked from the previous August 1 (use year begins and we've borrowed points every year). We have had to be somewhat flexible on dates, however but have always managed to obtain room and location.
