How hard or easy is it to get to restaurants not at park?

We have two reservations for restaurants that are not at a theme park.

The first one we have planned for the day we are going to Animal Kingdom. we figure we can get to AK early, stay all day, head out at 5:00 and get to Polynesian (Kona) for 6:05. Does that sound right? I assume I would just take the shuttle to the Polynesian? Then the shuttle back to a theme park to get back to our hotel -- All Star Sports?! Is this correct?

The second one we have at Cape May Cafe. This one is at an awkward time and I am trying to find a new time for it, but for now its at 10:20. My kids are early wakers so I was thinking of going to Magic Kingdom for early morning that day, then leaving at 9:30ish to head to Cape May Cafe, then head back to Magic Kingdom when we were done. Is this doable??

I hope I asked this question in the right place.

Your plan sound pretty good to me.
From the poynesian I think you have to take the monorail back to Magic Kindgom.

We did something similar with going to a park before a breakfast on our last trip. It work great. We had a 10:40 ADR at 1900 park fare. We went to Hollywood studios in the moring to do toy story mania, then left to go to the breakfast.

I think you may be cutting it too close from AK to the Poly, but it depends on the time the park closes. We had a similar ressie and switched to Boma since we didn't want to have to deal with the masses of people leaving at 5:00 all trying to get the same bus back. You might want to leave at 4:45 to make sure you get there with time to spare. Sorry I can't help with your second question.

I believe the park closes at 6:00 that night. I will check it out.

See that is one reason we are trying to see if we can get Tusker House instead of Kona BUT after looking at the menus we really like Kona's menu and not so much TH...Arrgh!

Once you are at Kona, you can take the monorail to the TTC and get a bus to All Star from there...or like a PP said, you can also go back to MK and get the bus there as well.

Is it possible to go to EPCOT that day instead of MK? If you do that you can just walk over to BC and then back to EPCOT after you eat.

We always rent a car so we don't have to worry about transportation but I still keep travel to a minimum because I don't want to waste my precious time at WDW.

Ok what is TTC? I am abbreviation challenged LOL

TTC is Transportation and Ticket Center. You won't catch your resort bus from there. All the non-Monorail resorts have a bus depot at the Magic Kingdom. As long as the Magic Kingdom resort monorail is still running, the easiest thing is to go to the Magic Kingdom and the bus back to your resort.

Whenever the monorail isn't running, you can always take a bus to Downtown Disney from your current resort's bus stop (in your case, the Polynesian) and transfer at Downtown Disney. The busses there run very late.

You'll notice that every bus depot has a numbering system on signage near the entrance to the depot. Consult the sign to match your resort to the right number, since the numbers are not universally consistent among parks and Downtown Disney.

That would be a better choice, I thought the same thing, but we already have our reservations for Epcot early in the week and my kids REALLY want to spend two days at MK.

The CM told me when I made my ADR that if it gets later and you can not get back to a park then you can always take a bus to Downtown because they run later at night. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for the correction. I guess its been a while since I had to rely on Disney transportation, but I did remember years ago that you could get the resort busses at TTC. I just figured that this hadn't changed.

Why aren't you doing Kona on your MK day?

Something more reasonable on your AK day.

We have found all that (disney transportation) traveling really takes a huge chunk out of enjoyment time in the parks or restaurants because you always seem to be rushing somewhere.

Choose park appropriate restaurants the day you are going to them and you will be much more satisfied with your day.

I think I've taken every mode of transportation you can possibly take around the parks, sometimes just for fun. ;) Nowadays the TTC is mainly a hub for busses going to and from the Magic Kingdom from other parks.

In general, it's nice to know we can use any theme park or Downtown Disney as a travel hub between resorts. I felt spoiled when I've rented cars, since that's really the best way to go between resorts. :goodvibes

Unfortunately I didn't realize to plan our days around our ADRs and well once I did realize it, it is now 10 days before we get there and EVERYTHING is booked! Soooo.....here I am scrambling to figure out how I can make this easier on all of us with the reservations I have.

11/30 Beirgarten for dinner so we figured we'd do Epcot that day
12/1 Kona for dinner
12/2 Primetime for dinner so we are doing DHS
12/3 Crystal Plaza so we are doing Magic Kingdom that day
12/4 Cape May Cafe at 10:20 so we figured we'd do MK that day because we have two days planned for MK and we thought it would be better to skip a few hours on our second day of MK instead of skip a few hours at AK when we only have one day planned.
12/5 Hollywood & Vine and then we are going to go back to any parks that we missed something we wanted to do! Then we are leaving Disney for another Orlando hotel
12/6 Sea World
12/7 home

so my question is if anyone doesn't mind helping me out here. Am I better off doing MK on 12/1 and on 12/3 and then do AK on 12/4 and skip out a few hours to do Cape May Cafe? The other thing is MK had early extended hours on 12/4 so another reason we wanted to do MK on 12/4

You should be fine as long as you are at the bus stops 1 hour before you need to be at the restaurant, this way just in case you just missed the bus you wills still get to the restaurant on time. The Kona for dinner and Cape May for breakfast are two really good choices for meals at WDW. Have fun!

To get back to the AllStars from the Poly, you can either take the monorail or the boat to MK then the bus from there.

If you have park hopper passes, it may be easier to go from MK to EPCOT by monorail then walk to the International Gateway exit and up to the Beach Club. It's about a 10 minute walk to International Gateway and another 10 minutes to Beach Club.

Ok I think we are going to do MK on 12/1 and on 12/3 and then do AK on 12/4 I am going to try for Tusker House on 12/4 OR CMC earlier on 12/4 but if not, then I am trying to figure out how bad the transportation from AK to Cape May Cafe and then back to AK would be? Anyone know
