For the second trip in a row we have told my kids we are leaving a day later than we actually are. It's the only way to get them to sleep the night before....unfortunately, it doesn't help my DW or I get any sleep (we're much to smart to be fooled by ourselves:teeth: ). Last year they swore they couldn't be fooled again...yeah, right!

So, how gullable are your kids?

I wish she was that gullible. We had her convinced, for awhile, that FAO Schwarz was a toy museum.

LOL That is good! I'll have to use that one. I still don't think it would work though...Mo would just want to pull a heist at the museum. ;)

That's too funny - that is EXACTLY what I do with my kids! Knowing that my kids never sleep the night before vacation, I always make it seem like we are leaving a day later that when we actually are. You would think by now that my kids would have caught on, but NO! I guess they are REALLY gullible!!

There's a van that drives around the neighborhood every summer - It's called the "music truck." ;) :p

OMG, BrerMom!! I thought I was the only one who told my DD that about the ice cream truck!:teeth:

LOL add another one to the club! :)

We had a sitter once who said " they taught us about parents like you in Psych class"

hehehehehehehehe

Yeah but it saved me some SERIOUS money the years he believed it! :D

How funny are these!
DD has no trouble speeling before a trip. Now DH & I are a different story...

I jsut learned something new!!!! Might have to use this trick for my DD who gets anxioty so bad before trips she has a break down!!! THANKS!!!!

OMG all of you are killing me--Way too funny. I have a problem my DS is 12 and knows everything and since we know nothing he could never be fooled. 17 hours to go

Gullable? My youngest son still thinks I have eyes in the back of my head and I'm not about to tell him otherwise ...

My kids would have a major meltdown if I got them up and made them leave, what they would think is a day early. Much anxiety over forgotten things, last goodbyes.. And gulible? Never could pull off the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy. Blind faith was never one of thier strong points:rolleyes:

My kids believe that Mickey and Minnie know that they are coming and can't wait to meet them. They've received two postcards so far from them indicating so.

Luckily, they haven't figured out that the first one came when my friend, Rita, was there... the second, when Dawn was there. One more will be coming early next week, as my sister is there now.

They haven't thought to compare handwriting, either, although I was going to tell them that Mickey obviously wrote one and Minnie the other. Don't know what I would have told them about the third.

Something I've heard in the past is that children will believe that dandelions are beautiful flowers until someone tells them that the are weeds. How I love to get those beautiful bouquets that are displayed so proudly on the dining room table!

Brermom.......my kids were shocked when they found out the music truck sells ICE CREAM. They just thought it was a neighbor riding around playing music for his friends....LOL
:D

Two years ago, before our DCL cruise, we told our then 5 year old son that the "secret password" for getting on the ship was "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." He could barely pronounce it, but practiced for 7 months, then said it to the greeter on the ship's gangway, who replied, "You go my little man!" We also had him convinced that yogurt was actually chocolate until he was about three. I swear it was all done with love.:)

My kids never have a problem with sleeping the night before. A few years ago I found a sprout on a potato that looked kind of like a little human if you did not get to close. I put it on the floor by the fridge and told the kids it was a gnome. I did not let them get to close, and moved it around when they were not looking. We took pictures and to this day they(ages7&9 now)think it was a gnome. I wish they would always be this way....sigh.......

The gnome-sprout thing is hysterical!:jester:
