If your intention is to get ahead of the crowds, an 8:45 reservation is no good at all. First, you may or may not get seated on time, but even if you are seated right at 8:45, it will take at least 45-60 minutes to eat & visit with all the characters. So the earliest you will get out of the restaurant would be 9:30-9:45...but possibly as late as 10:00 AM.
By the time you get done eating & get to the rides, at 10:00 AM there will be lines at all of Fantasyland, as well as at the "Mountains".
Your husband maybe could leave & go get a set of Fastpasses, but he would miss most of the meal time doing that.
If you really want the advantage of being inside the park & having breakfast early, try for one of the 8:05 or 8:10 reservations...at those seatings, you can eat & see all the characters quickly, because they do not fill all of the tables right away, so the characters get around the restaurant very quickly. We've been there when the characters made it around twice to all tables by 8:45 (they never fill all the tables at once, because that would swamp the waitstaff and the kitchen...they could not fill all the drink orders and keep the food refilled if the entire restaurant was ordering/getting buffet food all at once. So they stagger the seating, filling additional tables with each seating time.) So those earliest seatings they won't even have 1/4 of the restaurant filled. You can eat & be out before 9:00 to position yourselves at the rope within the park (they have ropes across the hub paths to Adventureland/Frontierland and also over at the path to Tomorrowland. You can walk through the castle, but there's a rope at the entrance to Fantasyland too. They don't actually let you roam around the park before 9:00, but you do get at the head of the pack when the ropes do drop if you're done eating by 8:50 or 8:55.
If you're looking for a Winnie the Pooh meal, why not schedule lunch at Crystal Palace...get to rope drop, watch the rope drop show outside the main entrance then get to Fantasyland to do all the favorites before the crowds back up those rides. A leisurely lunch after you've done all the fun stuff will be a welcome break in the day.
