My friend flew 3000 miles on Friday and yesterday I asked how was it going at the park and his response was got there at 9am and bag check was passed the Disney Store so we thought it would hit capacity and didn't wait.

He also said every restaurant was full for the evening at DTD.

He doesn't like crowds so his opinion what is full and mine are completely different, I go over Christmas week and think its manageable.

So for anyone who was there yesterday was it that packed early in the morning?

He said he is going to be there at 8am this morning to try and get in.

It was pretty busy. There are a lot of school groups here now (band and dance). It was fine for us but we got on our first ride by 7:30, rode 8 rides, and then had lunch at Cafe Orleans at 11:45. We didn't have a really fast pace as we ran into some friends that we chatted with and had a counter service breakfast too. By, 11 it was pretty packed. Left for the pool after lunch. Went into CA around 7:15. Rode Monsters, Maters, and Cars with a Riderswitch pass. Monsters and Maters were maybe 10 minute waits at most. I took my daughter back to the hotel and my friends hopped back to DL. They said the crowds were insane. Star Tours had a 120 minute wait! They rode Space with a fast pass and then left. They said it was so crowded it wasn't enjoyable. CA didn't feel crowded at all so I think everyone was in DL. I hope your friend has Hoppers.

Thanks for the update I passed that info on to him.
Hope today goes better for him!

We were at Disneyland yesterday at around 10:30 am, for us it was packed!! Not shoulder to shoulder packed but arms length packed. The line for Hyperspace Mountain was listed at 80 minutes (so we unfortunately hopped in since we had to to catch a plane in the afternoon and wanted ride one last time and fast passes were already past 7pm) and we timed it at almost 2 hours. The whole week prior was only moderately packed, much more than what we are used to at WDW in November, but still tolerable. They cancelled or stopped the fireworks most nights because of the winds. All that said it was still totally worth it! Have fun! :goodvibes

Remember that Disneyland rarely hits capacity and yesterday would have been an extremely odd day out for it to do so. A long line at security happens pretty often at various times of day even on slower days. I've been to DLR on capacity days and I did not wait in a long security line for any of them. The capacity closure also only lasted a few hours (this was during the week between Christmas and New Years) and was only closed to new guests. If you'd already been in DL you could get back in. It wasn't total capacity closure. Yesterday? I'd be very surprised if yesterday even reached the first level of capacity closure.

But it does sound like yesterday was still a crowded day that your friend may not have enjoyed anyways even if it wasn't capacity level. Although days like that are when the crowd corridors get opened up at various times and they are amazing. I have high anxiety in crowds and those corridors are my best friends when I'm stupid and enter DL right before a parade.

I was there on Thursday and Space timed out twice because people didn't unload fast enough. I ended up not using by 2:15 FP until after 3:30. I did get out of the line and watched Path of the Jedi after the second time and went back to ride when it was up. When I went back, the FP line was back to the ramp! The standby line outside was about the same length at that point, but of course they were letting like 8-10 people from the FP line for every 2-4 from standby, so it grew very quickly while FP dwindled.

We were there from Friday about 6PM to Monday about 3PM. All four days were crowded, maybe 7/10 or 8/10. None came close to holidays crowds. We've only ever seen gate closure right between Christmas and NYE, and usually only for a few hours on a few days.
