How full is the 2011 half?

Maybe I'm missing it (& I apologize if this has been posted already) but I can't see anywhere on the Disney sports page about how full the 1/2 marathon is. Ever since they changed the site I haven't been able to view it properly no matter what I do.

The Half hit 50% today!!! Let the panic begin!!!

Last year at this time the race was closed for over 2 weeks. Tough economy and a crazy RD who thinks a Half Marathon and the Marathon should be the same price

Thanks for the reply! I remember signing up last year in mid to late April when it was around 90%. That's so weird that the 1/2 & full are both the same price. What are they thinking

I think there are more slots for it this year too. Last year they ended up reopenning it with more slots. They might have just included those this years count. It would just be a matter of adding another wave in the half, as it doesnt have to deal with the narrow paths through epcot early in the race. By the time you get to Magic Kingdom area you're 6 miles in so the packs would have thinned out.

From my sources, there aren't more spots other than the 23,000 they had last year. Just look at how the Goofy is doing. It hasn't even hit 50% yet

I didn't realize they re-opened the half last year after they added more spots. Maybe there are more people doing the full since it's the same price? It's crazy that they are priced the same. When did Goofy fill up last year? I know it wasn't that much after the 1/2 did.

The original Goofy(5000 limit) filled on 3/18. The Half filled on 4/28. They reopened and added 2500 more Goofy entrants and than it took until 8/27.

Disney is crazy like a fox. They know the Half is becoming so popular that they cant really add more runners/walkers to make money so lets just keep raising the price. It will fill again as we are all like months to a flame. We now its bad but we can't overcome our attraction. I figure in a couple of years the Half will be at least $150 and the Goofy $400.

If memory serves, and it very well may not, the full either didn't close or close just a couple of weeks out for the last couple of years.

Just the Half Marathon That's why they have 5 different starting waves.
