How Full a Cruise Is...

Is there anyway to see how full cruises are when you are not booked?

My family is wanting to cruise in February on the Fantasy and we have to wait until November to book (because I'm a CM). I think the Eastern Carribean on February 9th is the one we are aiming for, but really any of them would be okay. Do you think those cruises will sell out or we will be okay?

(Trust me, it's killing me inside that we aren't booked and set!)

CruiseFish.Net shows only 32% of categories available for that cruise. You can't find out how many staterooms in each available category are open but it could be as few as 1.

Here is some pixiedust: Hope you get on!

From the looks of things, inside staterooms are sold out on the 2/2/2013 cruise (which my DW and I are sailing on!) but it appears that oceanview rooms and verandahs are in pretty good supply.

The 2/9 cruise appears to be more full, with a little bit of inside and a decent amount of verandah availability.

I wouldn't even try for 2/16. You'd be looking at $5400 for an 11A inside stateroom :crowded:

The 2/23 cruise also looks like it has plenty of availability, as long as you're not looking for concierge.

would love to know how you see capacity on the cruises?? I am on the 2/3/13 Disney Dream. Can you tell me how to view the capacity report?

Somewhere, someone at DCL is probably wondering why a whole lot of people just went in to select staterooms on Feb 9 cruises and then cancelled out before booking. :rotfl2: Seriously, I don't know how you would get a more comprehensive list. Maybe someone else can tell us.

The selection in the (5B I think?) category I randomly picked to look at wasn't as nice as I would like, but then, I was just looking this time. I guess that is what I would do if I really wanted to know ... pick my category and search on the web site for staterooms on the dates I'm considering (as if I was going to book right then.)

CruiseFish.Net Finder

Click on the ship and itinerary you want. Remember the website shows category availability. It will show a category available even if there is only one stateroom left in that category.

I know of no way to find out how many staterooms are left in a specific category except by playing with dummy bookings on the DCL site and that still will not show you all available staterooms.

That particular cruise shows 87% category availability. Here is the breakdown: http://www.cruisefish.net/finder.md?id_cruise=18664

Good luck and have fun!

Please explain to me how to read this chart. Where are you getting 87%. I only see the list of stateroom categories and cost for that category. What am I missing? :confused3

Thanks!

The 87% will show on this page: http://www.cruisefish.net/finder.md. First click on DISNEY CRUISE LINE, then on Disney Dream, then on 4 Nt Bahamian. The table to the right then shows the category availabilty for each date. You can see the category specific page by clicking on the cruise date.

The key to the cruisefish web site is that it shows only whether or not a cruise line is selling a particular category. It tells you nothing about how many cabins may be available in that category (1 cabin or 50 cabins would show up the same), or even if they are sold out of a category but accepting it for GTY bookings (thus keeping that price point available. And a category that starts with only 2 staterooms on the ship counts the same as one with 100 staterooms.

SO....if it is showing a particular sailing date on the Magic at 50%, that could mean that 800 cabins are sold or that 400 cabins are sold! If the distribution of the sales was right, both could show up as 50%.

The only way I know to get an idea of how full a cruise MIGHT be is to do a "dummy" reservation and go thru each category. If the web shows you 7 cabins available to choose, you know that there are at least that number available; you would then have to enter each number as a choice to see if it is accepted. If you get fewer than 7 choices, you know that you are seeing all the available cabins. Even this (which is WAY too labor intensive for me) doesn't tell you accurately as you have no way of knowing how many unassigned gty or IGT/OGT/VGT reservations may be waiting for assignment.

Another trick is you can go to a third-party online TA (I like using skymilescruises.com) and try dummy booking there. They actually have deck plans and (usually) show cabin availability so you can select more easily.) I prefer that route to the DCL website, personally.
