How "firm" are the weight limits on Baby Jogger strollers?

just a word of caution - the stroller has a weight limit of 100lbs including kids and cargo - however the seats are rated for 45lbs for the city mini double and up to 50lbs/seat for the double jogger.

There is some room for give and for a short trip you might not notice any issues - however it is possible you'd notice excessive wear at that much over the seat weight limit. I'm assuming you're renting - if that's the case, then be sure to get insurance on the stroller - and whether you're renting or not, be sure to check the seams, frame, axle etc through out your trip to be sure your kids don't get hurt.

We have the city mini double and 2 of our girls are just over the 45lbs seat weight limit - after roughly 6 hours of time (maybe less) of pushing them in it we see a huge difference in ability to push the buggy. It is being replaced prior to our next trip because even on the smooth floor of the mall it's very difficult to push now.

If you are renting maybe consider renting a buggy rated for a higher weight limit. I know at least 1 company offers different double buggies.

Wow, that must be a really tall 6 year old. My 9 year olds are the tallest in their class and are just over 60 lbs.

The last time we used a stroller was when our kids were 6. We got the Citi Elite stroller because the max height was larger than the one on the Citi Mini. My kids were 52 and 48 lbs when we used it. Their weight alone was 100 lbs at the time and we packed the bottom full, so the weight was not an issue. It was tiring to push when they were both in it, but that didn't happen often. The only time they were both in it was doing world showcase or late at night if they were sleepy.

My guess is that you'll be pushing it with the younger child and a back-pack 90% of the time but use it as a seat for parades and fireworks for the 6 year old other times. It also opens up the evening a little if the 6 year old wants to curl up and doze off. I do suggest going to a store that carries the stroller to have your 6 year old see if he can fold himself into the seat.

Have fun!

To the OP asking about the head room between the GT and the Elite, we found there to be more room in the elite. My two year old is 35 inches tall already and we tried her in all the baby jogger strollers in the store and the elite fit the best. I don't know as much about the elite double since baby jogger stopped making it.

Anyway, she seemed to have the most room above her head in the elite. The gt was still good though. We just decided to buy the elite since with what felt like more space and the higher weight limit since she's 30 pounds and 35 inches and doesn't actually turn two until may.

We have a DD2 (23 lbs) and a taaaall DD6 (73 lbs) :scared:. The City Elite Double says it holds a hundred pounds, but the two of them will be close if not just over by our trip. We'll be renting, so not a huge layout of cash, but want to make sure we won't damage the rental. Will it handle that weight alright? TIA!

My 7 year old is 56". He has been strollerless for 3 years now. I would get a single and have him walk. That is a lot of weight to push around.

This is exactly our plan. Thanks so much for your experience!

Thanks so much! We were finally able to get our hands on an Elite and it does seem to have an extra inch or two. She has a couple of inches above her head.
