How far out do you start packing?

I'll start packing as soon as it gets too cold here in Ohio for our shorts - then those will go straight to the suitcases. Everything else will start being gathered a couple of weeks out and then we'll throw in the things that we use everyday a few days before we leave and medicines, etc. will go in the morning of. We are surprising the kids this trip so it's going to be a bit harder because we have to keep the suitcases hidden.

I will probably start a few weeks before. I usually do all the packing and have to pack for 5 people.

Usually about 2 weeks before. This year I started a packing list 5 months out but I got rid of the list already because Ive learned that whenever I plan out what to pack I never stick to what I say. Actually, usually when I pack 2 weeks out I end up changing a lot I think this year I might wait till about one week out though because one week out will be Thanksgiving weekend so Ill have the time off to do it.
