How far out do you book a rental car?

We arrive on 11/24 at Disney, how far out should we book a car rental? Is it too soon to book now? Should we wait to see if any coupons/deals come along as we get closer to our trip?

Id wait. You could book something as a safety valve that you'll not get charged for but it seems the best deals come last minute and certainly priceline seems to lean that way.

We are going in Aug. and I have had ours reserved since last Sept. I keep checking to see if I can get it any cheaper but the rate we got for a full size SUV in Sept. is going to be hard to beat - $279 with a free extra driver.

There is no penalty for booking early and then cancelling later if you find a better rate. Book your best rate now...and keep looking. (Ditto with hotels.)

I've always booked as soon as I knew our dates and the car rental agency would let me. Sometimes 10-11 months out. Seems you get really good deals then, and again as the trip draws near (last minute deals).
