We are staying at a Disney resort and I was wondering how far it was to Universal. Do we have to rent a car or is there a shuttle bus of some sort offered to DW guests?

A shuttle bus to Universal from Disney? Not a chance. They're competitors; there's no way Disney would ever give you a ride outside their property to spend money. You'd have to rent a car or get a taxi.

Mears shuttles are avaliable to pick you up at the resort to take you to Universal, Kennedy space center we took one a few years ago theycharged us 12.00 for the round trip. Ask at the desk and thry will give you the number to call.

We used the Mears shuttle twice when we were there in Oct. It costs $18.00 round trip now (plus the tip of course). You can either stop off at the Mears desk (next to the DME desk at MCO) and purchase round trip vouchers there or you can call from your resort the day before and schedule a pick up. If you choose to purchase the vouchers at the airport they will take a credit card and have the number on them to call, to schedule your pick up. They do not have dates on them and can be used any day that you wish. If you choose to call from the resort, you will have to have exact change as the drivers do not take cedit cards. Either way, you have to call the day before to schedule a pick up time. They give you options like 6:20am, 7:20am, 8:20am, etc. We chose 7:20am and arrived before opening both days. They may or may not stop at other resorts or Sea World. Going over there we did not make any other stops either day. Coming home the first day we stopped at Sea World to pick a couple up and on the second day we stopped at POFQ to let four people off. The Mears number to call is: 407-423-5566.

If you have a large group, I think that it's often less costly to just rent a car for a day. We did that in the past when we used to fly and DH had a pretty easy time getting one.
