How far is the Disneyland Hotel from the parks?

I received my planning DVD for Disneyland today. Having never been, and looking at pictures and descriptions the Disneyland Hotel seemed like what we would want. It is only me and DH. However after receiving my info today and looking at the map, the Disneyland Hotel looks to be quite a distance. So now I am leaning toward DGC. It is a bit more, but trying to decide if it makes that much of a difference.

If I remember correctly, the DLH is .48 miles. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk, depending on how quickly you walk.

It isnt that far, so it really comes down to your preference of distance vs price. DL Hotel is about an 8-10 minute walk to the parks or a 4-5 minute walk to the monorail which drops you off in Tomorrowland. GCH can be anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on where in the hotel your room is. From the hotel lobby, the walk to the DL gates is about 5 minutes. GCH has an entrance to DCA, but that can still be a bit of a walk, depending on where your room is.

It's not a very long walk at all through DTD to the main gates........maybe a 10 minute walk or so

Yes that's about right. You can make it in less than 10 minutes pretty easily. Took me 8 or 9 minutes from PPH when DD was 3 1/2 and in a stroller.

I would say about 7 minutes. Like the pp said, it really depends on where your room is located. The GC is more spread out, so you could potentially be put in a room that takes about the same as the DLH. If you like the look of the DLH then I would stay there. It is an awesome hotel, and our favorite onsite hotel. The walk really doesn't seem long because you walk through downtown disney to get there. it is a nice stroll where you can smell all the wonderful food from the candy shop and restaurants, listen to the music on the speakers (aand sometimes live bands), and see all the window displays in the stores.

We stayed at DLH for our first trip, loved it, but did look enviously at people walking in to GCH as we trudged past it on the way back from the parks, with DD4 on my shoulders and DD7 grizzling. With no kids though everything is much easier.

The issue with the GCH is that the hallways are looooooong. Really loooooooooong. Yes you can get quickly to the hotel entrance doors. But getting to your room can take much longer than you would think.

See "How Far Is It?" (shows actual distances in feet from hotels to DLR entrance plaza) www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=mm060329as

YES.

DS froze post-Grizzly as he and DH walked the long long hallways to get back to our room at the Grand. It was October and very warm and by the time he got to the room his lips were going blue from cold.

We were lucky with our room at GCH - I counted 120 steps from the room to the DCA entrance.

If you use the monorail in DTD to get into DL, the distance you have to walk is probably half but of course that lets you off in tomorrowland.

When we stayed at DLH we walked thru DTD to the gates in the mornings and then typically rode the monorail back in the afternoons or evenings. The walk in the morning is great because no one is really out yet in DTD, but coming back thru there later in the day is horrible, very crowded and I hate weaving in and out of people. It definitely slows you down.
