How far in advance will I know if my flight is cancelled?

I have been monitoring USAir's web site, and it still shows my Oct 10 flights as scheduled. However, that flight has been cancelled over the last several days this week. I still have 12 days before we travel, but I would like to know at least a couple of days in advance what to plan on. Would I be able to schedule an earlier rather than a later flight if mine is cancelled? If a later flight is my only "choice" will I be able to get a refund? (I'd rather drive if that is the case.) Thanks to anyone who can fill me in (or calm me down!)

Call USAir directly.
I called Delta for a Nov 14th flight and they said to call back in mid-October to see
if there were any changes.
Delta told me they would accomodate any passengers on a cancelled flight - ie
change tickets to another flight that day w/o any additional cost.
USAir probably has the same policy.

Call USAir - and see what they have to tell you.
