How far in advance can we make reservations? Thinking about booking a trip for Mardi Gras next year (Feb), but I can't do it online....I guess because they don't have 2008 rates yet? I see that some people on here are planning trips for 2008...have they been booked yet or just planned? Thanks for any info you can provide.

You can book now for 2008, but you won't know exactly what it will cost until the 2008 rates come in. I think they give you an amount based on current rates, but it will be subject to change.

If you know your dates and your definitely going then I would book now even though the 2008 rates haven't officially come out yet. I'm sure they will just be a bit higher from what they are now which still gives you some idea.

The 2008 rates will be posted on or about August 15, 2007. I booked our 2006 vacation on 8/15/05 and our 2007 vacation on 8/15/06.

You can book a room only reservation now and convert it to a package when the package rates come out.

I was told by a reservationist that the annual price increase is approximately 15% to 18%. I was given an approximate price quote of a little over $3,100.00 and the actual price (when the 2007 rates came out) was a little over $3,300.00.

Just read that 2008 rates will be out June 23rd!!!!!

May I ask where you read this? I was told by a Disney reservationist, yesterday, that the 2008 package rates wouldn't be out until mid-August.

I have my fingers crossed hoping that June 23rd is the real deal!

My curiosity got the best of me and I placed another call to 407-W-DISNEY. The reservationist I spoke with said 2008 rates come out mid-August (again) and when I asked when was the earliest she had ever seen them published, she said mid-July. I asked her about the June 23rd deal and she said she had seen absolutely nothing stating they would be out on the 23rd of June.:headache:

I have an e-mail in to Disney. . . We'll see what I find out that way!
I just assumed after I read that article on AllEars that it meant the rates would be out on that day. . . Isn't that how it sounds???
I really don't want to wait until August!!!!! :scared1:

That would be a 6.5% price increase, not 15% - 18%. I know rates are going up at WDW, but it's not 15%/year. At that rate, rates would double every 5 years and I know that is not consistent with the historical rate increases that I have experienced.

Oops! I had a typo. I went back and looked at my previous reservations. (I have them in a scrapbook).

In 2006, I called to get a package rate for 2007. I was given a 2006 package price and was told to add about 15% to 18%. I was quoted a little over $3,000.00 and, when the 2007 rates came out, the package was a tad over $3,400.00. So, the increase was just about what the CM told me.

Okay, so I called them today and they are still saying mid-August. I also e-mailed them a couple of day ago about accommodations for 5 and when the package prices would be out.

Here is an exact copy of the e-mail I received from WDW:

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Each year, our Product Development Department reviews all components
offered under each package name. This determines the packages and
components included for the following year. At this time, packages
beyond 2007 have not been announced. Please check back in the Summer of
2007 for updated information.

You may want to look at the Family Suites at Disney's All Star Music
Resort or the cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. Then there
is always the possibility of taking two rooms at a value or moderate
resort. The next bump up for a party of 5 would be a deluxe resort.

Family Suites at Disney's All Star Music Resort include separate
sleeping areas, a mini kitchenette with a small refrigerator and
microwave, two full bathrooms and will sleep a party of 6 plus a crib
size infant under the age of three. Bedding in the spacious Family
Suite (520 sq ft) is 1 Queen Bed, 1 Convertible Sleeper Chair, 1 Sleeper
Sofa and 1 Convertible Sleeper Ottoman. Having two bathrooms makes
getting ready easier and more convenient. This room category includes
all standard Resort Amenities, plus coffee/tea maker and hair dryer.
With the extra room, families can be together in the suite and still
enjoy separate sleeping areas with more privacy. You can relax and
recount the memories of the day before falling off to a good night's
sleep.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground offer the Wilderness
CABINS: reminiscent of the log homes of the pioneers - but with the
Disney touch. Each manufactured 42x12 cabin has richly colored
wilderness accents, extra storage space, dining room and full size
bathroom with shower/tub. The bedroom has a double bed and bunk beds,
and the living room features a comfortable, pull down double bed, as
well as cable TV. The maximum party size is six plus a crib size infant
under the age of three. You will certainly enjoy the comfort of
air-conditioning and heating, fully equipped kitchen, and daily
housekeeping service. For outdoor relaxation, just stroll onto the deck
with picnic table and adjoining barbecue grill, all nestled under a lush
canopy of trees. Laundry, restrooms and showers are available, if
needed, at the nearby pool.
