How far in advance do you send your kids birthday invitations?

DD's party is October 4th.

I don't want to send them too early so people don't forget , but then I don't want to send them too late so people will have other plans.

BTW, this is for the kids party.

I would say 2-3 weeks before the event. I have received them as late as 1 week before the event but that means we have little time to change any plans or shop for a gift. I would probably send them out by the 21st of Sept.

1 1/2 weeks. If I get an invitation too early, I put it aside and forget it, because I don't know what will be going on. I've hosted dozens of kids parties, and found this timeframe works well.

For my son's bday in Jan, I send them 2-3weeks out. For my son's bday in Aug, I send them 3-4 weeks ahead because people get very busy making plans over the summer.

Both my kids have birthdays in June. I send out invitations about 3 weeks beforehand with a request to RSVP one week before the party. That gives me a few days to track down those people who were invited but have not yet responded, so that I have a better idea of the actual number of guests who will be attending.

I usually send out an evite approx. 3 weeks before, followed by the handmade invitations 2 weeks before. Then I have the evite reminder go out 1 week before.

I think 2 weeks ahead works well most of the time. That said, I have two kids with birthdays Christmas week--we go for almost 4 weeks out with an evite comming 2 weeks out--otherwise everyone is booked solid.

but in busy seasons, I'd say send out a "Save the Date" as soon as you know your plans. We always do a "Girls Day Out" cookie exchange for Moms/Daughters in December.

Well..we all know that December week-ends book up fast. I'm waiting to hear back about one other event in December, then I'll pick my date and send out a "Mark Your Calendars" email even now in September. I wouldn't expect an RSVP yet...just giving people a heads up so that they don't plan other events at the same time if they would be disappointed if our events conflicted.

I usually like to do 3 weeks before the party, but time got away from me this year. The last of the invites went out today for a party on 9/19. DD's 3 neighborhood friends got theirs last week. But her school friends invitations didn't go in the mail until today. Her teacher prefers that they are mailed rather than handed out at school, even though we are inviting all the girls in her class. Then I didn't have all the girls' addresses since the school hasn't sent out the roster yet. I asked the school for the addresses last week and got them today. I'm hoping most of the girls will still be able to make it. Otherwise I'll feel like a heel for not getting the invites out earlier.

My dd Birthday day is the week of Thanksgiving usually. So I send out invitations a month ahead. Because with it being around a holdiay I like to know ahead of time how many will/will not be coming.

I usually do about 3 weeks. I usually do my parties at places and they always seem to want their numbers a week in advance, therefore I have to mail the invitations out 3 weeks, to give them a weeek to RSVP and me a few extra days for stragglers.

Plus, I figure if their calendar is *anything* remotely close like mine, there are already things filling it up months in advance.

DD's party is this saturday (september 12th) and she gave invites to her friends at school on wednesday, september 2. the pottery store where we're doing the party allowed up to 8 guests, and we've got 7 confirmed

Hmmm...DS just got an invite yesterday (9/8) for a party on 10/8. RSVP date is 9/20...Seems like a long period between the RSVP date and the actual party.

For my DS's party on 10/10, I'll be sending out invites next week sometime...most people have already been told (verbally) to save the date...so it should be no surprise when I do send out the actual invite.

I do mine a month out BUT my DD was born on Dec 26th so with the holidays and all if I mail them asap I have a better chance of getting anyone to come...This year no party though, she got a trip to WDW for her Bday
