How far in advance do you plan?

Right now I'm planning for Oct '06. As soon as those 'plans' are taken care of, I'll start to dream and plan for 2007! My friends (those who I dare to tell) think I'm crazy I'm sure!

How far in advance do you plan your vacations??

I have our '06 plans penciled in. Because of excessive borrowing this year, we don't have that many point to spend, and I'm doing what I can not to borrow from '07. My mother flipped when I asked her if she thought we could go to the Mother's Day Brunch at the F&G show in Epcot next year! I'm just going to book the rooms in June and mention it again later.

I can't wait until my 3 DGChildren are old enough to go. That's why I don't want to borrow from '07 in case that or '08 is the year that we'll REALLY need the points. They are 28 months, 16 months and 3 months old right now.

I would say I'm like you. I am now planning for 06, and when I'm done I'll start with 07. My family thinks I'm nuts, but then they always want to tag along!!

2006 will be three 1Br for 10 of us on MY side of the family. Just waiting for the 11 month window to open.
2007 will be four 2Br (lots of banking & borrowing ) for 22 of us on DH's side of the family.
2008 (if points are left) will be a few nights in HH or VB
2009 might be a big trip to Europe or Hawaii (borrowing again).

We have 06 planned and booked well the cruise portion anyhow and we have our 07 and 08 trips planned we are always 3 years ahead with vacation/holiday plans.

Muushka that pretty much sums up our trips also mind you we threw in a May trip this year but we only ever go the first 2 weeks of Dec and only Dec there is no place like WDW the first 2 weeks of the best month of the year.

Well we used to plan 2 to 3 yrs in advance. Since my DD19 went to college and DD12 is in middle school we have to wait for the school breaks to be published before I can confirm anything now. The breaks used to be pretty consistent, but with all of the school budget issues they seem to be changing things around every year. So as of right now I only have thru the end of this year. Of course going from banking every year to borrowing doesn't help either. It might be time for more points....

My wife thinks I'm a little odd for planning 6 to 8 months in advance. I booked our OKW for Xmas at about 10 months and didn't let my wife know at first. You guys are awesome!! Maybe when our kids are older I can start to think like that. Or if I had lots more points to play with.

We are starting to fill in the blanks for 2006. We have a 7 day DCL cruise in August, which we will prolly add a couple of days at WDW before hand.... It looks like we will head down to WDW during spring break.

So not that far out.... only thinking about 2006 (so far)

I have 2005 planned and starting to work 2006 in around a family reuinion trip to Minnesota and a posible Oct trip to Paris. Thinking about May/June. Plus starting to plan for a 2007 trip with DD.

We alternate May/Oct/Dec trips and I'm always thinking at least 3 years out with point allocations.

Our Disney vacations are planned 11 months in advance, when we return from one we like to plan for the next....airfare, accomodations everything.

Since, our 2006 trip is planned my mind has been dreaming about our 2007

Non Disney trip 2007 somwhere in Europe because I only have enough points for three years out of five

then October 2008 + September 2009 (another AP and DDE card)

and so on.
