how far in advance can you book a WDW package?

we just got back and are already talking about going back next january.
how much time do i need to wait before i can start booking our next vacation?
how long before i can get an idea of rates?
we are looking to go in Jan 2008.

This year packages for 07 didnt come out until September. The year prior 06 packages were released in July 05. You can make a room reservation and start paying that off and when packages become available you can switch your reservation to a package.

I wondered the same thing when I got back from our vacation in December, so I called and was told that you can book up to 499 days before the chosen day of arrival (packages included). I booked my December 2006 trip in September 2005. I would suggest you go ahead and book as soon as you choose your dates. Ticket prices and resort taxes went up after I purchased my package, but it didn't effect my package at all. I would book now and if and when prices go up this year, you are already booked. If a discount promotion comes along, then you can always change your package up until the 45 day mark prior to you trip. Hope this helps!!!!!
