maliboomer says it drops 180 feet - TOT (the building) is 183 - how many feet is the big 'drop'?

Thanks,

xjx

Into the Twilight Zone. Muahahahaha. ;)

Actually, it's not as big as Maliboomer. It also doesn't feel as intense because you are in such a large, semi-enclosed car. They joke around saying you drop "13 stories", but that might actually be about right. However there is only one "big" drop. Just a bunch of other smaller ups and downs.

TOT really does not drop you (it's a matter of semantics since the sensation is that you are being dropped.) The ride vehicles are actually being drawn down faster than gravity. If I remember correctly, there is a randomizer on the TOT that changes the distance and number of drops on a ride to ride basis, making it slightly different each time.

The random drop program is for DHS (Disney's Hollywood Studios at WDW)'s ToT. Not DCA's. But you are correct, it is more like a pull down than a freefall drop.

Yup, Steve is correct. The tower of terror actually PULLS you down, because a mere drop didn't give the sensation the imagineers were looking for. But, doesn't it make you feel better that there is 'control' at both ends and you're not just being dropped?? (This rationale might only work for control freaks)

ToT is a fun ride and you do get a lot of 'hang time' due to the increased velcocity of the downward 'drop'.

I stand corrected. I had heard that they were planning to implement that random drop on TOT. I guess it didn't happen.

okay - how many feet does TOT 'pull' you?

thanks. :)

I think the hidden answer people are secretly giving you is "we don't know". :)

"But, doesn't it make you feel better that there is 'control' at both ends and you're not just being dropped??"

It actually does make me feel better. I can't really deal with "falling" rides and won't step foot on something like Maliboomer, but the feeling of the controlled "drop" on TOT is not bad at all for me.

I would be willing to bet that the bigger drop is no more than 100 ft. Then there is a bunch of small ups and downs. I love this ride, and have rode it many times. Always seems different. Although I think its only different depending where you get on it. My wife hates drops, but always does this one. I think it makes her feel good to say she does the TOWER OF TERROR. I think I love the ride, because I get to see her picture at the top. FACE OF TERROR. I laugh every time I think about it. Give it a try, you might just love it.

The drops feel different to me every time too. not the same at all actually. Today I went on and we actually got 2 long drops. Never had that before... But I don't know how far the drop is...sorry

The drops last forever as you will eternally be lost in... The Twilight Zone.

I bet it's more like 7 or 8 stories, it feels like no more than a 50-60 foot pull down for the big one. That's how it feels to me, not very big and no way the full 13 stories. Remember, that is more a part of the story than anything... the "13th" floor bit.

I don't know how far the drop is, but it is WICKED COOL!!! :rotfl2:

i have been on TOT twice at MGM and hated it.

but i really want to try TOT at DCA - just to say that i have 'done' it. :)

You are all braver than I am. My family all told me it was really no big deal.

S U R E... I thought I was going to die! :scared1:
