How far are the parking lots from the park? Actually maybe I should ask how big are the parking lots. I'll be getting tickets thorough AAA so I'll get that parking pass but I want to know if it's worth packing lunch and leaving it in the car and going there to eat in the middle of the day or if I should just plan to stay in the parks. I know at MK it's a long way away...but what about the other parks?

Well parking at MK is horrendous. Its an enourmous parking lot. Don't try to walk that one. (Not sure if you can even) MGM is not as bad because the parking lot is considerably smaller. If you are really wanting to save the cash and eat lunch in the car then MGM would be your best park to do it at. Honestly the food is pretty good in the parks so don't worry about that (if you've never been). Animal kingdom its ok but a little further. That parking lot has always been basically empty when i've looked. I'm not sure about Epcot at all as we have never parked there.

At the other three parks the parking lots are close to the entrance. At the Studios and AK you might be able to walk back to the car for lunch. But I dont think I would recommend it for Epcot. The parking lot is very large and if you are in World showcase that is even more of a hike back.

Ofcourse at MK a huge lake separates the park from the parking lot. It would definitely be hassele then it is worth to go back.

Since Epcot is opened the latest, i'd suggest parking there for the day and take the Disney transportation to the rest of the parks. That's what we do and we love it. Otherwise, the entrances are pretty far away if you get there in the afternoon. They have trams of course, but you may end up parking at the end of an aisle and the walk towards the tram line may be quite a ways.

At MK you can sometimes walk to the TTC, but from there you have to take the boat or monorail, so its definitely not doable. The others all have relatively close parking. But honestly, its not even the walk to the car, its the walk WITHIN the park to even get to the front of the park that may be daunting...

I don't think the walk at Epcot is bad if you get there early in the day. You could always just pack the lunch and bring it with you into the parks.

Disney lets you bring in small coolers with food, so why wouldn't you just bring in lunch with you? Then you can either rent a locker or carry it with you (probably not too bad if you have a stroller to put it in).

Unless you are going in a cooler month, the last place I would want to be is on a huge macadam parking lot in the broiling Florida sunshine to eat lunch. You will be much more comfortable if you bring it too the park and find a nice, quiet, shady spot there. If you need to pack lunches to save money, that is what I would do. If you are just concerned about Disney food, we have found it to be very good for theme park food (decent quality and quantity for the price) compared to other theme parks.

I remember a very talkative bus driver who once told us that Disneyland was so small, you could take ALL of the Disney property there and put it in the parking lot of the Magic Kingdom!! I don't know how true it is but I tell that to alot of people so I hope it's true!

Ugh. MK is my fave part, But I dread the long walk/ wait back to the car at nights. Your feet are aching and all that standing and waiting.

I would not recommend it at MK.

Have fun! :cool1:

Thanks everybody. I was trying to decide where to stay. I had a choice between Shades of Green or All Star Movies. It would come out to about the same price with the difference being that I could buy the meal plan if I stayed at All Star Movies. Figuring that we usually would just pack something for luch beause after a few days of eating in the parks...you get sick of hamburgers I thought we'd have to return to the car. Now that I know that's not an option I'm opting for the meal plan in a smaller hotel. I think food is more important than a nice resort.

Thanks everybody.

I used to work in the MK parking lot, and once you get off the tram, the TTC is still 1 full mile from the park. (although you either take the fairy or the monorail) But the lot itself is huge... Especially if you park in Sneezy, Bashful, Daisy or Donald... Now THAT is a long walk.... been there, done that.

Actually (according to my bosses), you could fit the entire Disneyland (Not sure about the hotels and Cali Adventure) in the parking lot and STILL have room to park 500 cars.

It's the 3rd largest in the world.
