It's really not that bad. You're only a few miles away from property, and once you get on property there are signs for each resort area. I never got lost going to work.
I took the bus to work the first few days so I got the idea of where I was going. Good luck!

Take the bus the first week. I didn't and i regret it. The only points i got during my program are two, half points for being late the first week. I got lost trying to find the cast member parking and whatnot.
I'd say it takes 10 minutes to get to your work location unless you're at animal kingdom then maybe 15. Its pretty much one turn and then straight and you're on property. Then there are highway exits for each park or resort. I always left the apartments 30 minutes early. Even though it only takes 10 minutes to get there its 10 more to walk from the parking lot to the clock. I was a lifeguard so we had to be on the pool deck on or before your shift starts for break out. Say my shift started at 3:30 i had to be on the deck by 3:30
take the bus the first couple of days (it can take about an hour by bus) this way you will be able to see the direction to go. However, definately drive after that it is so much better and you get home much quicker.
It might be 5-10 minutes from Vista but it's farther from Chatham and Patterson unless you drive like a psycho haha. I drive.. normally and would get from Chatham to Epcot in about 14 minutes.
I was worried I'd get lost too but it's pretty easy! really confusing at first but after a while you see how easy it is. I had a gps with me but I didn't really use it much, everything is mostly on one or two main roads, and then to get to all the parks they have a million signs.
I always left an hour before my shift was supposed to start. That way I had time to drive if there was excessive traffic, and would have time to make it to the CDS computer to clock in, even if the buses were running late that day, or if I needed to run to costuming. But I might just be a total spaz.
