How far ahead to book?

We are looking at taking a trip around Christmas time 2012. How far in advance should we start booking things?

Christmas is about the busiest time in the parks, you should be booking as early as your plans are firm.

Ok, let me rephrase that
How far in advance CAN we book? I tried a few things today and it looks like it might be too early - or maybe the resorts we want are already booked? Is that possible that they book up 1.5 years in advance? We don't have our dates set in stone yet but I am trying to convince the group we need to get the ball rolling!

If you're a dvc member and booking with your points, it's a 11 month window for your home resort. If you are booking directly through Disney, go to their website. I think you can book this far in advance.

Your trip has to be no more than 500 days away to book by calling Disney. I am leaving 12/8, and I believe on the 27th of this month I can call and book (and I will).

The website should be opened sometime in August to book for 2012. If you are going the week of Christmas, figure out 500 days out from your trip, and call and book directly.
