It really depends on the time of year and the type of accomodation. Chances are good that you will be able to get something, especially a studio or Inn room if you allow enough time for the wait list to work if necessary.

Calculate the exact day seven months out from your desired check-in date, and plan on starting to repeatedly dial MS at 8:55 that morning. When you get through, cross your fingers that the type of room you want (or an acceptable substitute) is available. Outside of "obvious suspect" dates like major holidays and peak winter school vacation periods, you have a good shot at getting something. If you do, reserve that one day, and keep calling back each subsequent day to add on.
