How easy is it to add points?

How simple is it to do an add on? Do you just tell them you want to add on, you send in payment (or give credit card), then wait for paperwork? If I give them a credit card, how long does it take for the points to get in?

TIA!

It's far too easy.

:-)

But yes, you call your guide. Give them the down payment. Then you get the closing paperwork.

Your points show up rather quickly in the system. Our Aulani points were in the system very closely to the day we closed, but I can't tell you exactly remember the time frame.

The only exception would be at the "sold out" resorts. If you want points at a location that is sold out or they don't have any points available to sell that match your current UY, you will be put on a waiting list and they'll take your credit card to be sure that you're "serious". I see that you're in Virginia so you probably don't want VGC points, which is definitely in a waiting list status, but I think I read somewhere that Beach Club might have some UY's that Disney didn't have points to sell, and hence they were reacquiring? Or I might have just hallucinated that. :confused3

As the PP's have mentioned it is very easy...too darn easy. We have done 3 add-ons now. We call up our guide tell her what we want, she figures out our down payment, I give her my cc information, I get charged and then within 24 hours have the points available to use. A few days later you'll get the paperwork, fill it out, get it nortarized and send it back.

A pp mentioned he/she didn't get their points until closing but unless I'm not remembering correctly (which is definitely a possibility:)) I do recall having the points available the next day. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm off base on anything.

I had my points available as soon as I paid my $500 "ernest deposit" over the phone via Credit Card. This was at least two months before I actually closed.

Added on and also had the points in my account within 3 hours to use for reservations.

Way too easy, IMO!!! It is so hard, even given the high prices with Disney, to not add on more points.

The rational side of me keeps saying I am crazy to want to pay $115 for BWV, but the Mickey side of me just keeps saying "Who cares?", it can't go with me when I am gone!!!!!:rotfl:

I just purchased a small add on at OKW last week. I called on Monday and my guide said their was 51 points ava. I told him I wanted another 25. He took my credit card info and Tuesday am my points we in my account. I also got 2010 points since it was a August use year. Disney had the paper work sent to me by the weekend with a Federal Express return envelope to return it to them. Quick and easy. Could not find that small a contract from resale, it would of been cheaper per point. I have a trip planned for a few days in August and they also adjusted my points for that trip to use up the 2010 points after I banked them.

If you buy resale add-on points, how does that effect the new rules? Will only the resale points not be eligible for the trades?

Twice we have done an add on direct through the DVC and both times paid via credit card. The points were in our DVC account within two hours after we completed the call with our guide. The paperwork came a few days later.

Twice We have done add on's too. Both times We had the points in 2hrs, and then I made my reservation. In fact I just added on 2 days ago, and had the points in 2hrs. I am now heading to OKW at the end of June.

Yippee!
